I'm now in my 48th year of riding. So an ol' fart. The best engine size for me personally is (and has always been) around the 750/1000 size. Just right. Not to much weight. Great on A roads. Just fast enough on motorways. And reasonable MPG too. Big powerful bikes are ok, if you have the pockets for tyres and fuel. Bikes are meant to be ridden afer all.

Great content as usual. Wonder if you took a really long ride on the BMW ? few hundred mile day, or on real motorway at speed for an hour or two. It is amazing how 90% of reviewers hate this bike, they say it is not good at speed, because you are sitting like a parachute in the wind, nor is it good for many hours in the saddle, I know you love the bike, but back roads like I see in the videos, I am sure it is fine, wonder what is the truth from an owner on long rides and a few hours at higher speeds. Amazing here in the USA, these bikes don't sell at all, you can buy a brand new bike for under $15k USD and used for under $10k... and they are available for months on end with no buyers.

Yes of course Ive ridden it on long journeys as well, and its great! Really comfortable, and at speed, it’s rock steady due to the long wheelbase and extended rake. Bear in mind; we film in nice pretty locations because it makes nicer viewing - nobody wants to see motorway (freeway) riding 👍🏼

If your trying to save a few pennies, a tiny smear of Fairy (has to be Fairy) washing up liquid on the inside of your visor, then polish it with some tissues also works well to stop fogging. I`ve used this method for ever as it works and I`m tight. Also, as the kid says in the advert it last for ages and its virtually free...

Good to see a proper fish n' chips. I dislike when you order that and out comes a plate of chips with 3 little fish "cocktails" like it's some sort of kids meal. Especially at a pub.

Very nice video. If anything, I find these videos more interesting than the ‘bread & butter’ ones. I’ll be looking out for the notifications for these for sure 😊 One thing I noticed though, if you warm, why don’t you undo your jacket a tad more, let the heat out of your clothes. That would be my logic, or is they’re something I’m missing 🤔 Anyway, keep it up the great work! 👊🏾

I have to say that bike looks absolutely epic, what a fantastic antidote to the stresses of modern life, so cool to climb aboard and ride some of Englands finest counties and towns. Those cattle looked completely fascinated by the big BMW too! The fish and chips looked delicious! Glad the vicar wasn't in residence, he may have been totally freaked out by some giant viking type fella with his video camera entering his church, lol. Those R18's can be had at quite reasonable prices now even from BMW dealers, I may be tempted!

I've been watching a lot of videos of the Yamaha tw200 and similar. Not big or fast, but capable. If you're not thinking of doing 500 miles a day on motorways, maybe a look at smaller capacity trail/dual sport is the way to go. Also the mpg figure tends to improve with a smaller engine. Touring on a budget. I've never got any cash. So it's something I can relate to. And with Brexit. Going beyond the borders of the UK have got more complex and expensive. I left UK for Corfu 8 years ago. I can't even think about coming back now. I'll have to do something next year though, before my passport runs out. Can't abide doing stuff like that online. And the postal service in Greece is too random to be reliable. Cheers chaps. Such an enjoyable video.

Character is the individuals personality and interpretation of art, we all have our own thoughts on what it is, and what it means to us, how boring would the world be if we only had one choice and all rode the same, We are bikers we are all Characterful, (except just eat delivery scooters 😅)
@erocnw1341
@erocnw1341 2 ай бұрын
I like characterful bikes but character is just one of many qualities that make up a bike. I also like modern bikes that deliver excellent performance. I'm willing to sacrifice some character for a bike that does other things well. I also think that character is just another way of describing personal preference.
@dungspreader
@dungspreader 2 ай бұрын
You bring up some good points about what makes character in a bike and here is a couple of answers to your questions . A bike to ride across Australia ? a Suzuki DR 650 would be hard to beat , it hasn't changed much since the 1980s .New Himalayan would be OK too , you don't want any bike in the bush that you can't pick up unaided . Triumph 400s would be out because of the lack of a 21 inch front wheel . Modern bikes with character ? Guzzi , single cylinder Royal Enfields , Triumph Bonnies , BSA maybe , Kawasaki W800 ,.naked Ducatis . Don't dismiss real classics , they can be reliable if they are rebuilt properly and have modern modifications . My latest rebuild is a '74 Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850 which is a real joy to ride and incidentally has almost identical horsepower and torque figures to Darcy's new V7 850 and I would ride it around the world without any worries about reliability . Absolutely rock solid design , which is still evident in the modern Guzzis . [ check out Paul van Hoof and his old Guzzi - " Guzzi Galore " ]
