I played club rugby in that era. No TV, no impartial linesman and amateur referees. Rucking was not only permissible, it was obligatory (but try and miss the head if you can). I was mainly loose head and so had one arm free for the punch - usually on their put in as the ref was the other side. It was a case of get your revenge in first. Was it great rugby? Was it a game that youngsters would want to play? Was it ever going to be great TV? No, but it was fun at times. Always forgotten the minute the match ended. Compulsory to buy the guys you’ve punched a pint. Unfortunately, I got bought more pints than I bought others.

A young man of huge talent and courage.. Should have been better managed but probably far easier said than done.

Amazingly talented player. The kind of guy whi doesnt necessarily need tactics, and will just play it as he sees it in front of him. Mostly making the right decision. Mammoth of a boot on him too, and as strong as an ox in defence. If only he had the commitment, then hed have been a Welsh centurion and a two, maybe three tour Lions test player. In his best years, Henson was unrivalled in the 12 shirt. Best in the world.

The RFU came down hard on its players that day. Four were suspended - Dawe, Gareth Chilcot, Richard Hill and Dooley.Dooley waited 8 years for his next cap.

The Irish players saved Eddie O'Sullivan's reputation, when they didn't talk about what happened at that world cup. never was a team so poorly prepared and coached going into a world cup.

Dalton, Teichman, & van der Westhuizen started it all & should have seen red for initiating the trouble. Not surprised the Irish lost it & decided to look after business.

I've watched those wo tests again recently. Farrell on balance was as good as bad, really I think he was a talent wasted. In a modern coaching environment he might have been outstanding. He is definitely not the worst All Black.

In all these scrums the puma TH and Puma hooker are boring in the AB hooker - the Puma scrum is driving towards the left hence their front angle on the AB hooker - should be penalties to the ABs!

The law states Cruden's mini step, trying to entice a charge, counts as beginning his approach. Nigel Owens made a corrupt call. Paddy O'Brien demoted referees that made calls against NZ for years. Look at England v Wales 2024 for the correct application of the laws.
