IN MOST FILIPINO TV CHANNELS, 90% OF THE SHOWS ARE SPOKEN IN TAGALOG SUCH AS THE NEVER- ENDING CRYING TELESERYE, GOSSIP SHOWS OR FUNNY BUT CORNY TV NOONTIME SHOW. THE REMAINING 10% PROGRAMS ARE WESTERN MOVIE BUT DUBBED IN TAGALOG OR SPOKEN IN TAGALOG IN REPLACED OF ENGLISH. THIS IS MADNESS. THIS IS WHY MOST FILIPINO CANNOT SPEAK AND TO UNDERSTAND EVEN BASIC ENGLISH AND HAVE NO CONFIDENCE TO SPEAK IN-ENGLISH. WE ARE NOT BECOMING GLOBALLY COMPETITIVE AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF VIETNAM, THAILAND AND EVEN CAMBODIA WILL ADVANCE AS THE 4th ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY TO MOVE THE PHILIPPINES FARTHER DOWN FROM 5th TO 7th IN THE WORLD!

You know. I've been studying Tagalog for at least 4 months now just about everyday about 30 minutes per day on average. Some days I skip, some days I'm engulfed for hours. I have a fluent speaker I can text with to practice as well and grew up listening to it so this isn't 100% foreign for me. I worked my way backward on this series since I just today see it and am sad to say that episode one - I can't keep up with listening and understanding 100%. I guess I need to practice my listening skills more but you would hope that after that much studying that Unit 1 Lesson 1 I should be able to follow every word easily considering this video is supposed to be absolute beginner. While I may have gotten all the answers correct for the videos I went through so far including intermediate, I couldn't follow the conversations aside for listening for the key words I was looking for to answer the question.
