My only new bike. Galouises blue F2 like this. September 1987 on an E reg from Roy Peplow in Wednesbury. Paid for with compo from being hit by a Mk4 Cortina drunk driver in Abelwell St in Walsall in July 1986 riding a Suzuki A100N. The F2 remains by some considerable margin my favourite machine from 37 years of motorcycling.

Got a 1986 Red n white in my garage atm, 6500$ Runs extremely good, got brand new Arrow-pipes on it Rejetted carbs, K&N open filters, Boysen Reeds, new throttlecable, Newly rebuilt front forks complete with YSS progressive springs. Brand new tyres, New wheel bearings, Also comes with new new steeringcolumn bearings, and swingarm bearings, not yet mounted because no need yet. but good to have if need would arise in future. If interested theres is also a brand new adjustable timingplate and lightened and balance flywheel on the side still in package, (200$)to buy if you want some further extra horses. And a Brand spanking new Aluminium fueltank with new Fillercap and keyes Still in Box. (400$) Original Pipes and everything Except oilpump and oil reservoir comes with bike. Previous owner had that deleted, so Preemix is the way now. So if you want to reset the bike to absolute stock, you will need to buy oilpump and reservoir.
I need some help from the Yam experts out there. I had one of these in the early eighties and I am sure it had an electric start but I can't find anything about that bike on the net. Does my memory play tricks on me and my bike was just a kick-start version?

Hello, I need to know what color you sprayed the engine block? The paint must withstand high temperatures to prevent peeling. Thanks for the information.
Really nice restoration :) And I realise that it's Yamaha's fault for setting the carbs up like they do, but my understanding is 2 strokes do NOT scavenge well @ low tick overs of just over 1K revs. So when I became aware of that I tweaked the throttle stops so the engine ticked over was 1500 rpm when the engine was hot/you'd got water temp. Worked well enough for me despite the few "doubting Thomas' who couldn't think beyond "the book".

Son, that's no resto... it's an in-depth detailing and valeting. It wasn't really lived-in to start out with. It looked good at the beginning, amazing at the end. Amazing for a F2. But no restoration done!

They are dogs, i got a 78 dt and a 79 dt which i turned into a mx 175 ,tank fenders knobbies stuff like that. Took all gauges lights for spare parts, but... they are torque monsters in the woods.

They were built to run long without rebuild. My first bike was DT125 with 20k miles at purchase and ran like a champ.

I had one in 1982, i was 19, got chased by the cops on it for over an hour, got caught eventually when they set up road block, i had no insurance, got the book thrown at me but it was a great chase ! im 57 now and buying another DT 175 tomorrow in great condition same as the one in this video. 37 years later im too old to be be chased by cops and i will have insurance. Looking forward to nostalgic rides.
