It's supposed to be in 5/8, but these guys seem to do in a rumpty-tumpty 6/8 (though the conductor's beating in 4 so I suppose that would make it 12/8). Anyway it gives it a very different feel, almost march-like, rather than the motion of sweeping a floor, which is what the song's about. However I don't agree that we should all stick to what we know. It's good to try something completely unfamiliar and see what happens, and if turns out a bit different, who cares.

It's not meant to be sung with proper vowels. The bright vowels are a recreation of the sound of an untrained choir that would have sung this piece in 1750.

Love this song. Funnily enough, I've always had a desire to arrange Keane's music for choir - I though it would lend itself very nicely to choral settings, and clearly it does. Was it your arrangement, Patrick? This performance shows off the lovely tone, blend and strength of this choir. Well done!
