I’m waiting for my sidekick! It’s white, but has the same stamps, etc. I have already found some dies that fit on Amazon. You just have to read dimensions carefully!❤

These today 10 years later are often found new even on ebay. Of course these were were earlier texture or embossing methods that eventually have been replaced with all the Embossing Folders. However what's wonderful with the sales on ebay of the old stock is you get often 3-6 full size texture plates (Often one plate has two designs by flipping one side or the other...so 6 designs. And a rubber mat and the harder mat/plate too. It's a great way to add a few shims to your supplies as well that sometimes is helpful when usiing other brands in your machines. (Example Diamond Press dies are so thin it's difficult to find the magic shim combination. I've discovered picking up older machine on sale packs of different plates allows me a selection of just the right thickness to manage other dies and embossing folders etc. So it's a win win. (I also have my husband cut into blocks or smaller plates the thicker base plates and these are wonderful as glue weights to hold down a project using liquid glues in place to smooth it until it's ready to hold itself together. Now and again you need to clean off the glue residue but it's wonderful. I also use glass paper weights in flat 4" sizes and rectangle blocks that kind of replaced my use of the old cut up base plates or stamp acrylic blocks too. HOWEVER sometimes I need a full size glue plate and voila I've got a few I never cut down. And I'm all set. Anyway just thought for those who are new to this craft and I consider myself NEW...I quickly picked up on the wonderful world of obsolete products and how to apply to the more modern and newer machines. NOTE the Sizzix pad or base system she's shown here and her die machine are not that old. BUT SIZZIX is getting ready to launch newer machines and abandon yet again the original Sizzix Big Shot used here today. (That includes the Bigshot plus and Big shot Vantaj and Vantaj plus. I know add in Spellbinders and the electric Sizzix machines too...that come and go and oh my gosh it's enough to SCREAM. (I decided to embrace as best I could and entry level was a freestyle model that I gifted to a friend who to this day uses that machine rather than use her Big Shot Vantaj which is brand new and still in box and she just prefers the same six inch opening machine that folds up for less foot print on her desk. I get it I have the Sizzix electric Big Shot and I have never once used it. Also my primary machines are the Spellbinder 6" and 8.5" machines because like most of the Big Shots they let me use Steel Rule dies which I have a large collection of. For small machines I have Tim Holtz sidekick and a gemini electric mini which I hate and 4 Diamond Press larger machines which I'm getting ready to gift two of. As soon as I verify I've figured out the correct plates to replace their expensive cutting folders I will gift them. I just hated to gift them knowing how expensive the folders are and how they do not hold up well with any dies but their own and even their own dies will warp all to quickly the folders too fast. At approx. a dollar per tiny folder hey it's terrible. Worse really is DP is often out of folders and out of stock on their machines? Not a good business model for sure. BUT LOVE THEIR LITTLE MACHINE. My newest adventure and close to success is using a thin metal plate with their folders either cut apart for one upper plate or putting the metal plate inside the folder and the die cuts into the metal. There will be warping for sure on the DP folder material cut apart or as a folder but not nearly as bad as the folder alone. Also this obsession happened due to I ran over and over and over the DP alphabet I just bought in Sept and it refused to cut a glitter paper stock. Use any other card stock of any kind other than glitter like shimmer etc. it would cut beautiful but not the glitter. Glitter is difficult to cut. It is made with a plastic membrane core that's tough and a lot of machines including Big Shots and Spellbinder Platinums also have difficulties...I use the chrome Sizzix plates which makes all the difference cutting glitter media and vinyls like fabrics for bows and earrngs. So that got me to thinking about how to add a metal shim one strong enough to be cut into and that will last a while as many metal shims are too thin and fragile to hold up. So I've found 3.5 to 7 inch square metal plates in various thickness to order and give them trials. Oh yes I'm right there. I now need to order more plates and I'll gift each DP cutting machine with the new machines and what they come with but add the metal plate and directions on how to use and also a pack of 10 regular size replacement folders and directions on how to get the most out of your plates. I'm as happy as a shore bird with a french fry as the saying goes. I enjoy the DP cutting machine the bigger one never owned the tiny one. To carry when traveling and camping. Just pull together a bundle of paper and dies for some projects and pop in the machine so profile is small and takes up little space in my limited storage space in a tiny 21' mini motorhome class B+ 23 year old I renovated the last two years. Before that I was a tent camper for 50+ years. Hubby is not so I'm one of those solo female campers who love being in nature and enjoying my alone time to re-energize and hubby of 53 years has been supportive as a HAPPY CAMPER to stay home and I win..he feeds the pets and putters about the garden. I never go more than a few days at a time no more than up to 9 ever at one time. And not too far from home now that we are in an older age group. So it's great to have books and jigsaw puzzles along but I read too fast and it's nice to have a few projects along that fill in the evenings. Now with a camper OH YES even better in the evenings. It's a quite hobby as I like to hear my environment for safety reasons as well as OWLS calls and other night bird calls plus on two occasions the Howls of two wolf packs in our remote NW MT county. So I may be new or view myself new in this craft I also have a scientific and curious mind and apply well thought out approaches to solve problems we may encounter from time to time. These texture dies are a great find these days. I recommend on several levels to give them a try and most fit 6" machines.

This is a cool looking Santa, but it is incredibly hard to make. There is no chart or instructions with the die. This video is totally inadequate. Some of the pieces are so small, you cannot even pick them up, much less put them down or peel off an adhesive backing. This took me hours and hours to make and I am sure I will never attempt it again.

How heavy is this machine? It looks difficult to move in and out of my closet. Also with the machine cut out dies from different sets on one run through. (Dies from different manufacturers may be different thickness, I think.)
