I umpired baseball, little league and high school. It is the home plate umpire’s job to control the game. Rather than forfeiting the game, the coach should have been tossed. The plate umpire did a poor job of controlling the game. Often coaches and fans get too worked up. There is hardly ever professional scouts at these games. I have umpired games where there were scouts, and I am proud of the job I did. I did my best, and the focus was where it is supposed to be, on the players.

1st that catcher needs to learn how to throw properly, 2nd parents need to STFU cause they can't tell when a batter "offers" as opposed to pulling back, 3rd, these coaches need to teach them how to throw the ball, unreal...the parents then "i'll ump, I'll ump"...lmao...these bitch parents would cry the second someone 2nd guessed their call...PARENTS...SIT DOWN AND STFU!!!!

This umpire might have been a little unprofessional by doing this. But half the time the parents and coaches are wrong on the rules and what they are saying. What the parents and coaches don't know is how much we prepare before the game and how much training we go to and how many things we have to remember. Also, how nervous we are, and we go out there to umpire and the parents just heckle us sometimes like umpires are not going to miss calls.

I think the field ump may have been dealing with jock itch. It’s frustrating sometimes to deal with coaches and parents, sure, but you don’t call the game like that. Quite frankly he seemed more interested in what was happening in the dugout than on the field. From the small sample anyway.

The second base butt hurt umpire was way out of line. He was just looking for an excuse to show his authority. The plate umpire just let it happen. Bad officiating all around.

Warnings are not necessary for an ejection. Remember that !

That umpire shouldn’t allow the appeal from that viewpoint anyways. He can’t see the swing better from 2nd base than the umpire at home plate.

I wonder why you can't find good umpires just because parents like these

This was such a simple and obvious call, its crazy anyone had an issue with it. I would've been pissed if the obstruction WASN'T called. This seems like poor game management though. Eject before you have to walk off the field, and definitely don't walk off without talking to your partner unless you're actively threatened. That being said, as an umpire I've definitely been in that head apace before. Youre doing a terrible youth ball game and you just hear constant complaining, sometimes you just cant take it anymore its not worth it

During my son's 14U comp season, we were the beneficiary of a close play at home (which after watching it back in slow motion, the ump called correctly). After making the call and hearing the groans and beratement from the parents of our opposition, the ump literally turned to bleachers and said in an assertive yet strangely calm tone, "I am standing 3 feet away with a better view of the play than any one else on this field. The runner is safe. If you have a problem, post it online and complain about it there. The people in the comments will tell you I'm right." I couldn't help but laugh and wonder how long he had been waiting and prepping for that moment.

Base umpire can not call game. The plate umpire has that responsibility.

"Appeal it if she pulled the bat back" when are coaches gonna learn that whether a batter pulled their bat back when they square to bunt has no bearing on it being a swing, there has to be an offer, a batter can leave the bat over the plate all day long if they want, but if there was no attempt to strike the ball, it's nothing

Parents always think the umpire is wrong but they don't know the rules and embarrass themselves constantly.

Calling the game cause you don’t like something a coach SAYS to you seems like an overreaction. Now I could be wrong, in order to judge fairly we would need video and audio of what the coach said and did. But I find it difficult to believe that calling the game for something a coach SAID was the right decision. Yeah eject the coach, but calling the game??? Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me. (If the coach threatened violence that would of course be a different story.)

If a kid throws a fit you toss him to learn a lesson, if a coach throws a fit you, toss the coach. If the parents throw a fit, you quit the game and walk off. Parents being an umpire is tough. Keep running your mouth and you can tell your kids it is your fault.

Hold the game up, force the unruly fans to leave. Let the head coach know to ask his fans to leave, that usually works. Always let the kids play if possible, it’s about them. ✌️

I can't judge what the coach may have done because I wasn't able to see it in the video. The umpire did seem over the top and he acted like an ass.
