Great video! I've written an ebook on hiking in Sedona, which I figure Diane must have already, since the explanation for how the Kachina Tree was named came straight from the book. I was delighted. Anyway, I would like to LINK to this video in the book. Sorry to reach out in a comment, but so far I haven't found an easy way to contact anyone on KZbin.

Hi Ed! Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I am sorry I didn’t realize in the video she was reading straight from your book. I can tell you however that Diane speaks very highly of you with everything you do. In fact, everyone that comes to Sedona to hike, she recommends your book. I would LOVE to post a link of your book in my video if you would allow me to. However, I cannot change the video, but I can put it as a card or end screen. Could you please post the exact link here in comments that I can use on my end screen that way when people read comments they’ll see your link here also. Keep up the great work. Make sure those leg muscles are in good shape. Lots of stairs on the cliff side of the island. Beautiful black beaches and the views from the cliffs are awesome. I was there at the end of Sept. and the temps were in the low 80's F (26-28C) but man that sun will roast you. I spent 3 days on Santorini and enjoyed myself but my favorite islands so far are Mykonos and Crete. If you're taking the ferry back to Greece be aware that they can be an hour or two late sometimes. I'm glad to have picked October (14th) for my cruise. I'm also happy to have watched your video. We originally planned a tour to Oia with a 3rd party tour company (not through Royal Caribean). But the duration 3hrs, seems too tight. I think we will opt for the ''city'' bus, even with their shortcomings (sketchy schedule), it is worth it at 2 or 3 euros a pop. Now...what concerns me, is the ''treck'' up and down the port, either through cable cars or on foot. Even though, we will be in Santorini, mid October, I still think with 3 larger ships in port that day, it will be crowded, making for a long wait for the cable cars. QUESTION: How long did the treck down the donkey crap infested stairs take you? Or up if you know. I have bad knees (torn meniscus) and a violently bad back (sciatica). Loved your straightforward video.
@dudez_antics69243 ай бұрын
I am excited for you to see Santorini in October. I think that’s a great month according to other viewers comments. We had two cruise ships in Port and ran into those long lines for the cable car, and they weren’t the largest cruise ships at that. I myself had meniscus problems with my knees and a bad back, so I can very confidently suggest that you do not walk the stairs up. Walking down took us 30 minutes at a slow pace. Just need to watch your footing because of the slippery rocks. The rocks are very slick with all the foot traffic going up and down, extremely polished if you will. You can ride the donkeys, but be advised there are people that claim that as animal cruelty, and not sure if that would pose a problem for you. As you know, we took a tender to the New port if that’s an option for you. Hope I answered your questions. If not, let me know. Have fun on your trip. I’m so jealous!

Visited Santorini on Jul 24 and had much the same experience as you guys. Tendered in from the cruise ship, took a bus to Oia, and battled the crowds in the narrow walkways. There were 5 cruise ships in the harbor, I heard it was a record for number of people in a single day. I'm editing my own video now, and I recognized almost every shot of yours! We took the bus back down to the port and had a great guide give us the history of the island on the way. Definitely worth it, but be prepared for the crowds.

Hi Don, five cruise ships! Wow! As you saw in our video we only had two. Mike and I like to take cruises to visit multiple places and then figure out where we would like to return and get an Airbnb. One of our viewers suggested to avoid the summer month and visit in May or Sept. and find accommodations in Imerovigli. Curious as to which cruise line you took and did they provide more time in Oia. We were on Norwegian.
@dontrapani77783 ай бұрын
@@dudez_antics6924 We were on our 4th Viking cruise, we really like them. Due to the 5 ships, the Harbormaster had Viking change the shore excursion times, so our original 8:45 am tour was changed to 11:15. From the time stamps on our photos, I can say that the bus trip to Oia took a little less than an hour, and we had only 1 hour to tour around Oia, about the same as you.. But as I said, it was worth it. What a beautiful and picturesque location! I have a photo of the 5 ships in the harbor but I don't know how to attach it here.

This is no way to experience Santorini. To see it properly, firstly do not come in the summer peak season. Secondly fly in to Santorini and book nice accommodation for no less than 4 nights. That means you don't have to rush and get stressed and once all the cruise ship daytrippers have left you can enjoy the early mornings and evenings in a much more relaxed style.
@dudez_antics69244 ай бұрын
@@jjjddd231 that’s great advice! Thank you. That’s something we would actually consider. Which month would we find the best weather, and what part of the island do you recommend for accommodations? Sounds like you have some experience with Santorini.
@jjjddd2314 ай бұрын
@@dudez_antics6924 I think it is best to avoid Santorini in the summer months of June, July and August. May & September would still allow swimming if that's important for you, otherwise I would seriously look at April and October. If your budget allows it, then choose accommodation where your room has a caldera view. This will let you enjoy the epic view from your balcony / terrace while having breakfast and dinner and in particular it will let you enjoy the famous sunset without jostling amongst dozens of strangers at the public vantage points. The western side of the island is where you want to be and the 3 best towns are Fira, Imerovigli and Oia. I recommend Imerovigli as it's between the other two and lets you do the famous hike (Fira to Oia) in two shorter parts.

Oia is beautiful but gets busy when the cruises come in..lots to see and lots of great shopping. AKkrotiri has a lovely little museum,bit like a tiny Pompeii,buried when the volcano erupted.
