Thanks for the video, gave me confidence to get on with it. Best to slacken off the bottom bolt then remove the top two bolts to gain access so that the unit swivels towards the front of the car. Only worked this out when refitting, wasted time using my finger tips to remove the bottom bolt nearest to the tension pulley. Jacked the car up to gain access and slacken the tension pulley, just applied pressure till the belt would slide off the bottom pulley, easy enough compared to trying from the top on my own.

What did you use to tension the belt? Cant get any tool in there to get enough force, lack of space.

Hi. My i have a v50 2.0d 05mod. I am trying to remove the fuelfilter and noticed a nut on the left side under the cable clip. This needs to be removed to remove the filter and bracket? The nu says 10.9 i belive "hard to tell" it looks like my torx t30 does fit but it spinns i guess. Do you remember what tool you used or can you tell me how to remove the fuelfilter?

Advice: 1. Take an overview of the motor. 2. Do not move the camera!. 3. Speak slow and clearly. 4. make a Movie in Microsoft Movie maker. 5. Test the Movie on a friend. 5. Edit the Movie once more.

Hi "carpoint" Just replaced my alternator. For lower 16 mm I used a 16 mm compact spanner wrench because it's quite narrow. I would recommend to take off the "6" mm allen screw bottom right rather than the 8mm (but mine was 5mm) you will need to release it anyway to be able to rotate the stud. For releasing the tension on the belt I accessed from the bottom, secured the 17 mm fixed wrench with 10mm of wood between engine bay and tensioner/wrench to keep it properly seated. There is quite large force needed and I used a crowbar between the engine block and the wrench. Thanks for the video it helped me on the way. Luckily I managed to take picture of the ID-plate identifying my alternator as 150A. When moving the car to the garage (on battery) only 1000 meters the generator was fully overheated and smoke came out and label was destroyed.... //Peter
