Far different burn techniques and process than we use down here in South Georgia for our control burns in timber. Still very interesting to see the process used in a different environment.

Hi. Why can't a plant be taken whole to replant?
@birdliker7172 Жыл бұрын
It’s not great for the area you’re taking it from and may have things already living on it and stuff
@amarketing87499 ай бұрын
Native plants did not evolve to be dug up and replanted. There is nothing in their natural environment that would select for this. So, they are actually quite fragile when it comes to transplanting and often don't survive. Broadcasting seed is the best way.

Thank you for this video. We have 17 acres and I have a lot of wildflowers. There are a few areas we can collect seeds and sow them in.

How to measure rate of spread of fire? Visually?
@NebraskaPheasantsForever Жыл бұрын
Rate of spread can be calculated by distance the fire has traveled/time, which by fire practitioners is oftentimes yards/hour or chains/hour. Module #2 Fire Behavior has some good photos and diagrams of rate of spread.

@@NebraskaPheasantsForever I mean, when you perform experimentally, that time how did you measure ROS? Due to smoke, its difficult to see visually, right?

Great content. One recommendation would be to put more emphasis of the corners , ridges and saddles in adverse conditions. You can find head strips, flanking and dots everywhere. I think this would be extremely helpful from a learning and teaching standpoint

What if I want to use glyphosate in different concentrations for an experiment? How can i make sure that the concentration don't get mixed up? Or what if I want to use another herbicide after using Glyphosate? Such a nice video by the way.
@NebraskaPheasantsForever Жыл бұрын
We recommend always following the label directions for any herbicide application. Chemical applications are highly regulated and using chemicals outside of the amounts listed could have harmful effects and is illegal. Contact a local biologist, chemical representative, Ag Extension office, or other local resource professional for site specific recommendations. This will include the best site preparations for chemical applications to achieve the desired results.

i looked for western ragweed for sale on the internet. cant find it. is it legal to sell?
@NebraskaPheasantsForever Жыл бұрын
Hi there! We don't currently have any of that in stock unfortunately. Typically western ragweed, common ragweed, and even giant ragweed can come in on its own after a major disturbance in the soil such as tillage herbicide, prescribed fire, or high intensity grazing.
