Lovely but where is the cycling infrastructure to enable using a bicycle to cycle to school, work, the library, the shops, to friends ... blah, blah, blah???????
@Ebiketouringlife2 сағат бұрын
On this channel I’m mostly looking g at touring by eBike so while I mention city infrastructure relatively frequently in that context it’s not my core topic. That said these greenway do also offer excellent commuting routes for those living near them as is observable the last few km into Athlone on the Mullingar to Athlone one

Sad to say, I rarely used my tent, just age caused my degradation. Just the fact that it stayed stretched in the folded position was probably not good for it.
@Ebiketouringlife5 сағат бұрын
How long did you have it for? With modern materials if there is no exposure to sunlight or heat I’d have thought it should last a couple of decades stored properly

Recharging in churches. Reminds me of a bike packer on KZbin he kept using grave yards for free water sources. I understand if youre stuck but advertising 70+ thousand viewers of hers to enter grave yards for water just seemed like a bad idea. People already hate cyclists and that wont help our community much. Also its probably not the best water source to drink. I just couldn't see myself doing it and i guess churches are the same for me.

For those who might not be aware the “Deep Sinking” is located in what was the former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s constituency. In fact Leo’s home was within 100 metres of the access to the canal pathway at Coolmine. It was not uncommon to see Leo and his partner walking the canal at this point so he would be well aware of the historical issues raised in this video. While not condoning parish pump politics what legacy has our former Taoiseach left to his constituency? Absolutely nothing of note! If ever a Taoiseach had an opportunity to do some good in his own area by pushing through this development has sadly gone amiss and the “Deep Sinking” to this day remains a disaster zone.

That never happened in the UK... one of the reasons: Your various governments denied they were financed by the EU. Which is why the EU never got mentioned. Thank the lord you left.

I want to cycle the whole greenway someday so one evening I decided to try the start of it maybe get to Maynooth. After work I cycled through the Phoenix Park and the deep cut was the first part of the canal I met. So I circumnavigated up to the next bridge, then I got slowed down a lot pushing the bike up another lock and went home because my allotted time was up. When I went home I discovered this lovely channel and that has helped a lot for next time.

The diversion around us a shame but if your not cycling with young kids it’s just a nuisance on what will very soon be an otherwise continuous route from Dublin port to the Shannon - the work to Maynooth should finish soon although I suspect parts of the Dublin section will then have upgrading work so my video using the Strawberry beds to skip to the section from Comfrey will remain relevant

i would be curious how long the battery works in real life setting. I assume that it is a fairly heavy bike. Have been thinking of using an ebike to commute from Navan to dublin 1/2 a week to work as im finding ever increasing the buses are unreliable. Its a nightmare to drive in Dublin.
@Ebiketouringlife23 күн бұрын
Check my gear playlist for a good few real world experiences - TBH though I’d expect the 200km on eco mode from Navan to Dublin to hold true - I’d get 100km no problem from a 500whr on my Raleigh Motus Tour. The Superdelite would be overkill for a commute (to put it mildly) and yes too heavy at about 32kg depending on configuration. You’d probably be able to get a 22kg bike with a 625whr battery that would be more suitable and give you there and back range

Hi there ! A very informative video which struck a chord with me as I cycled along the D-Day Beaches at the end of September from Caen to Cherbourg. I have a Brompton folding bicycle with an ARCC electric conversion and I both camped and used hotels along the way. I had booked a crossing from Cherbourg to Rosslare and it too was on the Brittanty Ferries Santońa - what a marvellous ship ! i received an e-mail on my 'phone a couple of days before the crossing and I checked-in online. I then collected my tickets at the vehicle booth before being directed to a 'holding' lane. Everything was so smooth ! I had splashed the cash on a cabin and the lounge, and the crossing was calm and incident free. I arrived in Rosslare very early in the morning and caught the first train to Dublin Connolly. Being a folding bike, I merely put a cover on it and put it on the luggage rack. A change of train was a bit of a problem as the line to the new Belfast Grand Central was not open and a bus replacement from Newry took me to Lanyon Place. A short cycle to Grand Central and I caught Hannon's bus to Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station and home. I have subscribed and intend to follow your tour of Northern Spain as I am hopefully returning to Rosslare by the same route next May before catching the Brittany Ferry to Bilbao. I fancy exploring a couple of the Vias Verdes in the 'Basque Country. Thanks again and looking forward to watching your adventures !

Great video. I came down to Ordes using the English Camino on my e-bike from A Coruña where I live. Ordes is off the Greenway, but as a town is an excellent spot to recharge batteries, eat well, and take in the street art. The town is a filled with hundreds of murals and some cultural graffiti that cover the entire sides of buildings. I continued up the Green way beyond where you turned right, where it ends in Cerceda. In the final station just outside of Cerceda there is an Auberge or Hostel that has a restaurant. But your route looks to be the better way down from this large range of mountains. I will try to find one of your videos where you show the bike/battery you have to deal with as this is going to be my retirement approach to biking. Looking forward to more of your excellent instructional videos!

Im just getting started on this change of lifestyle. Currently working on pushing my Tenways CGO600 from commuter bike to bikepacking. I have more or less solved the electric issues and can get 100-120 KM on relative flat and 75 depending on the climbs. So I have been doing day trips from home. However I have been researching the possibilities for train travel and it’s look quite possible (bike-bagging-carryon, some trains permit reserving a spot without breaking it down. But what really looks doable for me is to use the post office bike paq service whereby I can take it to a local office, they provide a box and we ship it from there to another post office in Spain or most EU countries. This seems to be the best solution for me to get to some of the EUVELO routes in France, Denmark, Germany. And definitely to traverse mountainous regions in Spain. Buses also are up for that, but there isn’t a clear single policy for buses in Spain as it’s a real wide collection of distinct businesses.

great video as usual.silly question can you take ebike on a plane.
@EbiketouringlifeАй бұрын
@@anthonykelly5 short answer is no, longer answer is that it’s the batteries that can’t be brought on a plane but you might be able to talk an airline into carrying the bike without a battery. I think it will take quite a while to exhaust the ferry + train possibilities so I’ve not looked into it much
