My mom and dad met at a trap house in 1999. He was a blue collar worker lumberjack guy and my mom was just some skinny pretty girl. When they met he was 11 years older than her. He gave her two kids. The 7th and 8th of his own bloodline though. We grew up in trailers. Watched them both fight themselves to provide for everyone for years until they passed. Been doing my own work since 16 to keep the wolves away.

The accident in this song actually happened...the SS GrandCamp was filled with ammonium nitrate and exploded while in Port in Texas City, TX...it's the deadliest non nuclear industrial explosion to ever happen it launched the GrandCamps anchor like 3 miles

10 years ago the first girl i ever loved played this song for me, and we loved it. It was ours, we were young and had just gotten our hearts broken when we met. We loved like kids do, and we imagined our whole lives together. She died, and all those dreams did too. Its been almost a decade since she passed, and i still think about her, about the life we wanted together. I got married this year, and i love my wife. But a part of me, selfishly, still misses those dreams we had. Everytime i start to think about her, i put on this song and just get lost all over again. I dont think i would tell my wife about, its not right to burden her with something like this and my feelings about a girl she'd never met, and i dont ever want her to feel like shes competing with a 10 year old dream. But writing this little message in a digital bottle does feel a little nice. Its the first time even outting the thoughts into words. And anyone coming to this song, i hope it gives you the same peace.

My dad kept the wolves away for me and my siblings. He kept them away even after my mom left him. He kept them away until he got to old to do so any more. Now I take care of him every day, i keep a roof over his head and food in his belly. Feed him his meds and care for his wounds. Now its my turn to keep the wolves away. Stay strong and keep pushing, friends. The wolves are always waiting.
