I have thin wood strip bracing perpendicular to the beams supporting the polycarbonate roofing on the inside of my porch. Can this film "skip over" the wood part, sticking to the PC. Wood is about every 4 inches.

It's an edging tool. Help straight lines along the gasket. Without cutting the gasket with the knife.

How long does it last if it's outdoors?

External window Films are warranty 7 years on vertical glass. The life expectancy of the film would be longer.

The technician installed this perfectly! The reason people are confused is, as a professional, he used a trick to make his life easier...unfortunately it has not been explained to you all. Yes at the end of the process the clear film (release liner) is on the 'wrong side' but that is the whole point. He rolled the material in a way that allowed the release line to be removed automatically as he unrolled the film. If you really want to try it: Roll your cut piece up nice and tight with the release line on the inside of the roll. Peel the last 10cm of the release liner back and flop it over the back of the roll. At this point, everything can be covered in soapy water. Now when you start unrolling the film against the wet glass it will be removing the release liner for you at the same time. And most importantly...the release liner will end up....drum roll, please......on the 'wrong side' Lastly, come back to youtube and apologise for being wrong :-) But seriously when I first saw this technique in another video I politely email the company and asked what knowledge I was missing. They kindly replied.

I still don't understand and I'm doing a conservatory roof soon. How does the release liner end up on the opposite side of the film?

I have fitted numerous window films but have never done a roof, so came on here to see the technique a professional installer would use to to handle to film whilst fitting to a conservatory roof. As per other comments on here, your installer fits the film the wrong way around. He has put the facing side against the glass and removes the backing sheet from the film 1:34 and then squeegees on the adhesive side? This film will peel off over time as the adhesive is facing into the room and not onto the glass.

No the film is fitteed correctly. I have been using this technic for over 25 years I have installed thousands of square metres of film.The adhesive side is against the glass as it should be. We offer training courses if you are interested.

@@UKWindowFilms Hi, I can only assume that prior to rolling the film on the window you must remove the backing film and have it on the reverse side? Perhaps reverse rolling the film? This is an ingenious method and would love to know how you do that? But I suppose I would have to come on your fitting course to find out???

The clear sheet is the backing sheet. This protects the adhesive on back of the film

Why would there be adhesive on the back of the film, surely that’s to stick it to the window, and the whole point of it being covered?

Hi I was a bit confused ,, when you tinted the window you removed the transparent. Sheet from the back of the tint I thought that sticky side went to the glass could you please explain please
@UKWindowFilms
@UKWindowFilms 9 жыл бұрын
Wayne Elson Hi. The transparent sheet is the backing sheet or release liner. This is to protect the adhesive which is on the back of the film

But it didn't look like you put the adhesive side towards the window. I'm confused as well.

+billtown143 agreed, doesn't make any sense. I tint the logical way of removing the liner because the glue is on that side

The technician clearly removes the protective backing off the facing side of the film so therefore the adhesive is not against the glass surface !
