I remember seeing this in the studio where I was working, back in 1999.. Alesis sent us the promo and we were taken by storm.. I am still taken by storm right now, because there hasn't been any synth like that for the last 25 years (and probably will never be). By the way, this is a very nice VHS transfer too!

Well, there's also the Moog One. It's not identical in set-up or features, but it's arguably even more powerful.

The audio aspect confuses me. I just got one but now I plugged my neutron into it but now I have to use the audio output on the patch bay into speakers? I tried it with the same audio speakers I was using that plugged into the neutrons original jack on the mount. now it’s barely audible at full volume. What is the right way to amplify it? Do you need an output module? Or what’s a good amp to use? I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong

Glad you checked double, but on your -12V you have 1051mA. In the manual it says -12V zone a+b+c together 1A not each zone 1A! hope everything is doing well

re: the comments about the nuts being M3 or M2.5, is that really not part of the Eurorack spec? Crazy if not.

You can buy threaded nut strips that just slide in the rails instead of the nuts. Perfect Circuit, Synthrotek, and other places sell them. This case is meant for people on a budget and slide nuts work fine. I imagine any future versions of this case will use the strips instead. That said, thanks for the video. Very informative. Also this case is only $229 now so it’s a good time to get one, or a second one.

Thanks for the unboxing. Could not be bothered to do one myself! Don’t own a MK1 but what I can see visually at first there does not seem a lot of difference. Only when you dig in deeper do you actually find out there are a lot more differences than on first looks. Gamechanger will be completing some tutorial video’s soon, will be doing a firmware upgrade at some point. There is a firmware fault in preset 1 in Richard Devine set that will be sorted. I’ve been told by Gamechanger Technicians that if your motors stop, and produce a nasty sound on this preset it’s to do with the cross-modulation and will not harm the synth. Switching the octave or the motors into sleep then start will restart the motors. There is no control of V1 and V2 send and return - not sure if MK1 had this. I’ve been told V1and V2 S/T are there for further waveshaping, e.g. through an eurorack filter. The return is before the Drive and Filter section. It may say somewhere possibly in the midi section but each bank can have 127 presents, with up to 127 Banks corresponding to 127 values of CC 0.

Great info! Yes, I've been setting up my workstation (and patiently waiting for my Osmose to arrive in a couple of weeks) to start and really dive into this synth. I am already noticing some aspects are still needing more documentation so I'm hopeful the GCA team will be interacting with the users and fleshing these out on the online manual.

Looks very interesting, for the price. I wonder if Behringer will think of making an equivalent to the Mantis at something like 104HP (?). This case is very big - as you've said.

6:15 the most likely reason for the power brick is its an electromagnetic device so putting a power transformer in it would likely create interference (or at least the cheapest and easiest way to make sure it doesnt is distance)

Do you think the mantis brackets will work with this case?
@oldmanzero
@oldmanzero 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. The mantis brackets barely hold the mantis cases. It would not be safe to use the brackets, even if the drill holes matched up (which I don't think they do).

Nice work -- thanks for sharing! Sliding nuts can be a hassle, but one quickly learns little tricks to make things easier. My observations, so far: Mounting modules by only two opposite corners, where possible, reduces the number of sliding nuts needed per module with no grief (save the occasional, wretched not-quite-flat module.) I only have the Eurorack Go skiff, so the following may not apply here, but with it, I was able to temporarily remove one side panel and insert additional M3 nuts. I had only standard hex nuts, but they still work fine -- they just don't slide as smoothly as the stock square nuts. Distributing spares over the length of the rail will minimize headaches when you need to swap out one module for more smaller ones.
