What is the light that comes in from the left at 6:23 and travels around the tornado? Tell me that isn't the car you said drove into it, it is vast...

That was so impressive in the beginning where it looks like the vortex at the ground was only maybe a few yards across.

So that's why they call these short-lived suction vortices "bird fart" tornadoes.

I’m just learning the mechanics behind tornados but this seems to be one of the most defined / well organized ones I’ve seen. The wall between the low pressure air(?) and the inflow jet is so pronounced and well-separated here. Maybe I mixed something up there but either way, what a beautiful tornado (and terrific footage of it). Thanks for doing what you do to bring us this!

Just because they tend to go the same direction doesnt make riding parallel to them when they are THAT close even slightly safe. Small deviations are normal. It's impossible that you could react fast enough. Russian Roulette my friend

Student storm chasers are a different breed; I witnessed first hand. As an engineering student at the University of Oklahoma, I shared a requirement course with a few of those meteorology students called numerical methods. During that spring-term course, we were expecting very favorable weather for tornadoes. While in that course, during that particular time, those students seemed to be frothing at the mouth to get out doors to view the weather. 😃
