Most video games are against God and unrealistic and should be avoided for that reason alone, but there are a few AUs and you shouldn't waste your time with them either. One exception is Microsoft Flight Sumulator, for example. But even such games should only be played to a limited extent.

Personally. I kind of find that a stretch. Just because a game refers to the Bible in some way doesn’t make it a Christian game. Theres still the whole thing with witchcraft, scantily clad women, and the beastmen,That this game has. Theres a lot of games that tell us stuff about the Bible in some way. Warhammer, xenoblade, heck just about every catholic like church in games reference it. I doubt there’s a true Christian game. If there was, I doubt it would be translated properly, or done well. Don’t get me wrong, I like this game but I certainly wouldn’t call this game bringing those passages to life.

Hey man, still lovin’ your videos! Don’t know if you really take requests… but… I used to play a mobile game called Brawl Stars… and man I loved that game. I was on global leaderboards 3 times, the art was great and it was super fun… but the storyline started getting pretty dark once they introduced the whole;e Starr Park thing. I’ve wondered if going back to it just for the game aspect would be okay, but I wanted another perspective on the game and any hidden, darker aspects in it. Just saying it’d be super cool to see you do a video on Brawl sometime! Keep it up!

Hey Sharpy! Thanks as always for watching and commenting 🙏🏾 I've never actually played Brawl Stars, so I wouldn't know how dark the story gets. My general principle is that if it makes you feel uncomfortable, then that's a good sign that the Holy Spirit is convicting you and leading you away from it. No need to force yourself or go back to any game that's questionable to your conscience when your primary goal should be to please God. Hope this helps! Lmk if you have other questions

Personally I think the same way like if having magic/powers along with level up features (aka evolution) then basically all fantasy, team builder or rpg games are just off the table which is kinda insane like that would also mean that basically all main stream media would be gone too like Star Wars (the force) as an example legend of Zelda (there just kinda magic skills you learn also spirits) I mean for goodness sake smash bros would be gone cuz of some of the characters in the cast and they have spirits in the story mode to give power up’s so I think that as long as it’s not addicting or changing your faith it’s fine

God is described with both male and female attributes in scripture, especially the Holy Spirit. We do describe God as father, him, he…. But is the Godhead strictly male? Sure Jesus was a man that is no doubt but is the entire Godhead? God created both male and female and in his image so yes, I’d argue that God is both male and female. I also say this because of the argument where Zelda’s deity’s are goddesses. It can be merely used as an artistic thing or that they wanted to highlight female traits. Or that the creators just wanted them to be female as it’s not a ‘Christian game’ and the creators are likely not Christian but they did use Christian elements in the game. It is evident that they did. I’ll leave it at that as I do want to be careful because in today’s culture things can get very muddy very quickly but I just thought I’d add my 2 cents 🤣 . I hope I got my main point through. ***thank you for the video, it gets people thinking.
@ArcadeDiscipleАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yeah this is a tough topic of discussion because God as a being is definitely not gendered, however, because humans are made in His image, He has the capacity to instill male/female characteristics into His creation. I wouldn’t frame it as God is male or female (because He’s Spirit and uncreated) but rather that God is ungendered with the ability to create beings with genders. Hope that makes sense! When Jesus says "and lead us not into temptation" he is basically asking his chosen deity not to put his faith to the test like it was in the Book Of Job. Yes all deities have been know to put the faith of us mere mortals to the test on purpose, often for their amusement but sometimes to prove a point. Sigh! As if existence wasn't tough enough for us mere mortals. Personally I wouldn't ask a deity for anything otherwise you end up owing them big time.
@ArcadeDisciple2 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks for the comment - I think the line “lead us not into temptation” is said in the Lord’s Prayer not necessarily because the God of the Bible tempts people. In fact in James 1:13, Scripture says that “God tempts no one” Maybe gods in other religions tempt for amusement or entertainment, but the beauty of Christ is that he was actually tempted in every way that we are/were (Hebrews 4:15). Yet, he did not sin, so he showed us that it’s possible to resist temptation by trusting in Him. I promise you that when you seek God in prayer, He has no alternative motives to manipulate you, but to commune with you as His creation. God bless!

@@ArcadeDisciple You obviously didn't understand the part where I said "put his faith to the test". Also the "satan" (lower case "s") in the Book of Job was an angel in heavens court acting like what we would call a prosecuting attorney. Another thing Christianity gets wrong as they often try to change the narrative of the Hebrew Bible to fit their new narrative in the Gospels. Anyway this is not the place for theological debates. Have a nice day.

The first one reminds me of volcarona. Never thought of it as being a seraph, but I can kind of see it with the wings and fire. Not too sure for the second one. My best guess would be rapidash, or maybe suicune, with their unicorn inspiration, but I'm not too sure how that relates to that biblical passage specifically. I've heard groudon compared to the behemoth, and its being unaffected by the rivers does seem to correspond to its desolate land ability making it impervious to water attacks. As for leviathan, apart from kyogre, which I'd figure is a bit of an easy guess at that point in the video, my guess for that one is lugia, which I seem to recall being compared to it and similar aquatic beasts of Semitic legend. Though the description of a big, coiled serpentine monster sounds more like rayquaza. This is the only one I didn't guess, probably because it seems quite likely gyarados's similarity to the leviathan could be coincidental, due to its being so similar to East Asian dragons, and its evolution from magikarp being a one-to-one with the legend of a carp becoming a dragon. The last one makes me think of hydreigon, being the one prominent multi-headed dragon pokémon, but it isn't red. I guess dragonite is orange, which the word translated to "red" probably covers, though it has significantly fewer heads than the dragon from Revelation. I'm surprised applin wasn't mentioned, a fruit-dwelling, serpentine creature has definite Genesis vibes. Also, I remember vulpix reminding me of that part in Judges where Samson ties foxes together by their tails and lights them on fire, though it seems much more likely vulpix is actually based on a kitsune.

Another video game that makes references from the Bible is Chrono Trigger. Mostly how Chrono’s story goes like how he feeds 1,000 soldiers in one scene with jerky which is a subtle reference to Jesus feeding 1,000 people with bread and fish, how Chrono is betrayed by a friend almost like how Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, and also Chrono being judged. Also Lavos the villain of the game is depicted as a monster with many horns almost as a reference to the beast with ten horns in the Book of Revelations. I find it interesting whenever video games make subtle references to the Bible as I am a Catholic Christian but also a gamer.

In regards to Giratina: PLA refers to Giratina by the name "kami-no-ko", which is the Japanese translation for "child of god", which is the epithet of Jesus Christ. However, there's another phrase in the bible that "son of god" can be found, which is in Genesis. Genesis 6:4 "The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown" There's debate as to whether the Nephilim were these sons of god or if the nephilim were the children of the daughter of men. It should be noted that this story likely dates to before the Israelites became the Jewish people, when were still monolatrous traditions (i.e. acknowledging gods that Judaism now considers false, but only worshiping their own single one). That means that the nephilim in the story may have been meant to be demigods of other religions, hence why I don't capitalize the word 'god'. Regardless, PLA splits the difference by having Giratina be both a bunshin of Arceus (meaning 'off-shoot' or 'avatar') and thus a son of god literally, as well as inspiring Alphas (who become giant size, i.e. nephilim as depicted in the bible). Another translation of kami-no-ko would be 'little god'. There's a character in Judaic mythology called Metatron; an angel referred to by some as 'little YHWH'. Enoch ascended through God's realm and was transformed into the most powerful of angels, to the point of being YHWH's right-hand man, so to speak. That's what his name means; Meta-Tron means 'besides the throne'. Many Judaic theologists weren't comfortable with this idea of a second YHWH and also weren't comfortable with a figure like Jesus, so a polemic formed. Three Judaic mystics attempted a perilous, spiritual journey to the throne of YHWH. Only one survived the journey and, when he arrived, he witnessed Metatron sitting upon the throne of YHWH (which was essentially his job) and so the Judaic mystic declared that YHWH must therefore be two deities. Causing this heresy caused Metatron to be cast down and punished. There's similar stories about descending or falling entities around the world, most often associated with the planet Venus. Jesus is among them, in fact. Most popular today of these myths, however, is that of Lucifer Morningstar, who falls, rather than descends like Jesus. Giratina, similarly, is a fallen entity, but slightly differently. In Japanese culture, there was the idea that children still had a foot in the before-realm and so, if they died, they'd seamlessly slip into a new body created for them to try again. This created the idea of 'sending children back' if they weren't healthy or sustainable. In the story of Izanami and Izanagi, their first child (Hiruko 'the leech-child') is misshapen and so has to be ritually returned to the water of creation. This idea of killing newborns was highly criticized by Buddhists, who eventually created the narrative that, in truth, these enraged newborns would haunt a hell created for the parents who killed them. There's more interesting connections, though. Japanese writers love esotericism from the west. In Judaism, there is a theory of the origin of evil (among many) which says that God is so powerful that even thinking causes worlds to be formed. These are called 'thought-worlds' (which are highly relevant to franchises like Kingdom Hearts). Reflexively, in order to create good, the Qlippot were made reflexively in these thought-worlds and they inspire evil in us, kind of like how Giratina inspires Alphas to become aggressive. Izanami and Izanagi are highly referenced in the story of Sinnoh/Hisui as equated to Dialga and Palkia. If we take the origin of the Qlippot as inspiration, where God creates some things as a kind of reflex, we can think of Giratina coming out 'unfinished' when Dialga and Palkia are originally created. With the help of the Ancient Hero or perhaps from the very beginning, Arceus sees potential in Giratina and decides that they need to finish their 'gestation' in the Distortion World. Another idea in Judaism is that the Messiah will descend into hell and drag the evil there back into God's light, thereby completing the redemption of all life. This, in a way, is what happens with Giratina, who spends unknowable eons in the Distortion World, but is dragged into Sinnoh by Volo, where it learns to value the life it was once too volatile to co-exist with and it becomes a protector, as Arceus saw it the potential as having. Through the actions of the player, Giratina, a representative of the Qlippot, is dragged back into the light through a kind of spiritual warfare, redeeming the origin of creation as Arceus intended.
