The reason it flooded is the storm was unexpected. Normally the town drains the lake down and this helps the overflow. In 20 years of owning a home in Carolina Beach, the ocean has never caused a flood problem, it is the lake that sits so near the ocean. Awesome lake but it is a problem when heavy rains happen.
