What a fabulous production with Ana Tomowa-Sintow in superb voice giving a performance worthy of Leonie Rysanek. This is my favorite opera of operas since the Met 1966 premiere. Although Jones’ voice is past its prime she can still deliver the passion. The entire cast and conducting are all excellent. The production is much better than anything I’ve seen since 1966. At least they understand what the opera is about.

Fine, big voices, particlarly Dimitrova, but this is Italian opera and for much of the time they could be singing in Bulgarian! Tomova Sintow particularly bad in this respect.

I saw Jones sing the dyer's wife in London. Staggering power. On that occasion the empress was ruth falcon and the men were siegmund nimsgern and robert schunk

What a beautiful opera, but makes me sad because I really want to have children but can't find a wife. Almost singers are good, but I'm very disappointed by Jean-Philippe Lafont, even though he's one of my favorite french singer.

Two great Bulgarian opera singers, singing under the direction of the no less great Bulgarian composer and conductor Emil Tabakov, the concert is in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture with a capacity of 3,400 seats in Sofia, all tickets for it are sold out extremely quickly...... This is just a small part of the concert.....

This is just phenomenal! Two towering monuments of talent. Anna Tomowa-Sintow always such an expressive and beautiful voice and Ghena Dimitrova an awesome power than is at the same time SOOOO beautiful! What is also clear here is the intelligence of singing that comes from true Maestre- just..... words don't do justice.

Superb old style singing of a kind now extinct sadly. I heard them both fortunately but never together. Dimitrova was a sensational Santuzza at Covent Garden in the late 80s. Tomova Sintov great in Andrea Chenier and an extraordinary concert she gave at The Barbican in the 90s.

No one sings like this today. Dimitrova is so believable as a dramatic mezzo even though she was a very famous Turandot and Abigaile as well as the soprano role of Aida. She was a freak. Anna is one of the few recitalists who doesn't stay glued to the music.

This is a phenomenally acted piece. The protagonists are brilliant in conveying their roles. At first I felt the orchestra was not on the same level, but, the integrity of the performance takes this to another level. Brilliant!!

Deux immenses chanteuses aux voix colossales. Je n'ai eu la chance d'entendre sur scène que Mme Tomowa-Sintow, dans le redoutable rôle de la Teinturière (La femme sans ombre, Richard Strauss). Inoubliable. Où trouver des voix de ce calibre, aujourd'hui ? Elles avaient 57 ans toutes les deux lors de ce concert, et semblaient défier le temps.

Vous voulez, certainement dire, dans le rôle de l'impératrice, dans "La Femme sans Ombre", (qu'elle a chanté plusieurs fois dans sa carrière), non pas celui de la Teinturière. C'était la production de Marseille, en 1995? Dans ce cas-là, la Teinturière était interprétée par Dame Gwyneth Jones.

@@XPRT10R Vous avez absolument raison; ma mémoire manque de précision. Il y avait aussi dans cette production splendide une phénoménale mezzo (Reinhild RUNKEL) à qui le public avait réservé une immense ovation. J'en ai encore la chair de poule !

@@XPRT10R Je l'ignorais totalement; quel plaisir vous me faites en livrant cette info; je vais "dévorer" cette vidéo. Je crois que je n'avais jamais vu le public de Marseille aussi exalté. Pendant 20 bonnes minutes: applaudissements, cris rappels... et ces frappements de pieds; j'ai bien cru que le balcon allait s'effondrer ! Je crois que ce cette mise en scène avait reçu le prix de la plus belle production lyrique de l'année. Quand on voit certaines des horreurs que l'on monte aujourd'hui...

Une des productions à laquelle les enfants de l'ensemble vocal Vincent d'Indy ,devenu ensuite maîtrise des bouches du Rhône que je dirigeais, a participé avec un réel bonheur et partagé avec des artistes d'une qualité exceptionnelle . Un grand moment!
