No, if you hear in the beginning I’m going through what we call “dead” shoes. That means they are already too worn out for normal dancing. At that point, they are basically trash. This gives me something to do with them instead of throwing them away

We don’t use fabric paints on our shoes for a couple of reasons. 1. It would be hard to get everyone to use the exact same color or fabric paint.2. Fabric paint messed with the shoes more

It doesn’t match anyone’s skin tone. It’s to match tights, not skin. Dancers of color also have to match their shoes to pink tights depending on the ballet and company

@@autumnsklein - Oh I know darling. I did pointe all the way into adulthood. But it seems like no matter how many times you say it or how obvious it should be there always seems to be a litany of people upset that it doesn’t come in a myriad of “skin tones.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Unfortunately, you’d have to start with pink shoes too or it won’t work. If you dance at a studio where it requires classical ballets in pink tights and shoes, you will have to order some of your shoes in pink.

Depending on the company you would do the exact same thing regardless of skin tone bc it’s about matching the color of your tights. If you dance for a company like ABT (where Misty Copeland danced) everyone is in pink for classical ballets. Alternatively, there are a lot of companies that have some dancers of color wear brown tights and then they match their shoes to their tights. Almost no companies have all dancers wear skin toned tights although. I bet in the future that will be common!

If only they looked as good as traditional shoes for most dancers! Hopefully they will keep making advancements and will be able to be worn by more professionals someday!

Powder doesn’t stick well enough and it’s dangerous when it comes off the shoe. I highly discourage you from putting any powder besides eosin on your shoe for yours and other dancer’s safety

Nothing of the sorts but art is a beautiful creation that talent people do, art comes in many forms that shows our skills and craftsmanship in a beautiful manner but like I said not everything can be called art. Do you believe in your heart of hearts deep in your soul that what she did is art??
