The filter didn't look dirty. However, if it was it would be a major undertaking to remove it and clean it. The whole hydraulic assembly would have to come out.

3S battery, it's size is about 136*43*29mm (5.35" x 1.69" x 1.41"). They last 25 minutes. I purchased four extra ones from Amazon so I don't have to wait for them to charge. I had one from Huina. I sold it because I never really used it. I probably would use one if I have a very big area to play in.

This has been a very reliable machine. I've had Huina and Double D Volvo excavators and they broke all the time. They also had much less power so I was always trying to modify them to dig better. The Kabolite K961 is very reliable. I've had it 9 months and it only had one or two minor issues.

I had 5 hours on it! I know a lot of oil tanks are dirty when they are manufactured and they don't get cleaned. I wanted to change the oil when I got it but the quick connect wasn't delivered until yesterday.

1:14 is bigger than 1:18. The 1:18 works better in the sandbox on my porch.

Yes, I started with 1:14 scale Huina excavators. They are not as powerful, but they are less expensive for you to figure out if this is a hobby you want to stick with.

I like the 1:18 or 1:16 size of the Kabolite.

The most common is 1:14 scale. If you get bigger than that they start to weigh over 100 pounds. My excavator is 1:18 scale and the loader is 1:14 scale. They each weigh 20 pounds.

You're right. I thought about that once I started digging again.

I sometimes wish they had smaller ones. That way my indoor play area would be much bigger in scale.

I'm not sure. I've never seen the K966. I know the tracks on the K966 are bigger.
