39:00 you rallied warbands charging the Belgae 2 resources for those spaces, but unless i am missing something, treveri's region is outside of their own spaces and should have cost 1 more. This doesn't seem to have ended up affecting anything, but I think they currently have one resource too many.

I'm not sure if the Arverni quarters "keep close to leader if able" implies "no movement without a leader since all spaces are equally close/far to 0 leaders they have" as you have done, or if it means "don't worry about the proximity since you are unable so just move according to the other stipulations"
@nullitaire2 күн бұрын
Interesting point, but the rules for Quarters for the Arverni bot (8.7.7) say (after the bit about moving away from devastation), "They then (or thereby) move their Leader and/or one group of Warbands, so as to join *the Leader* with the largest group of Arverni Warbands able (if any) and, within that, to get or keep *the Leader* within one Region of the most Regions with Arverni Forces able" (emphasis added). So, even if you are right that Quarters could still be activated without the Leader, it doesn't seem like it would do anything because, if there is no leader, then it is impossible to tell exactly *what* the Arverni are supposed to be trying to "keep close" to. They can't move closer to something that isn't there.

Thanks for your time and effort in this series. I'm just digging into Liberty or Death game as my first COIN series game. Wassup helpful just observing the game flow and the pallet of "commands" and "special actions" available to each faction. You'd be surprised at how helpful just sitting and watching the checking down of options and the walkthrough of actions actually was. So far, I've set up the tutorial and walked through that as well as watched your video series. Thanks again and what might seem mundane to some is actually VERY helpful to someone just getting into these games rather flat-footed without any experienced player to walk through with.

An easy fix for the Indian trade: do the Brits have at least 3 resources? Yes -> roll to see if they’ll trade. If they do, the British will give either 2 or 3 resources. They’ll trade an amount up to half of the British resources rounded down, a minimum of 2. So with 3-5 resources, the British will give 2. With 6 or more, they’ll give 3 resources.

18:18 while barbarian, conquer is a named card from what i can see. Would the bot not have chosen that over barbarian?
@nullitaire10 ай бұрын
You are totally right. I messed that up. That's a bummer! That means that instead of taking Agriculture, which is worth 5 VP, they should have taken Archipelago, which is worth only 1 VP (because of the progress token on it). Since the game was so close, this mistake may very well have been enough to make the Celts win when they should have lost. I will have to think about what to do about this. I may have to play a rematch.

Thanks for a great playthrough. Interesting that the French bot won, given that they never seemed to follow an independent strategy. The failure of the British to get the special activity to use Howes ability crippled them along with their intervention in the West Indies which was too late to be decisive and ended up a prison for their turns and their forces. The death star blobs of Franco-Patriot forces appeared to be decisive whilst the Tories proved to be nearly invisible.

Why when max 4 muster areas (top left muster instructions) did you only place regulars in 1 area New York?
@nullitaire11 ай бұрын
That is because of the instructions for Muster on the British Commands / Special Activities player aid. Under Muster, it says, "Place up to 6 regulars in 1 city or an adjacent colony or in the West Indies." Basically, the British can only select one space to place regulars. The "Max 4" restriction is for how many more spaces they can select to place Tories: Muster does not have any restrictions on how many spaces can be selected for placing Tories.

Thanks. COIN is my first nullitaire love, so it's nice to be playing a new installment to the series. I didn't mention it in the video, but the Govbot didn't flip any guerillas because Sweep requires 2 troops to do that. This is hilariously antithetical to what I want out of games and out of solo bots in games. Ever second I spend processing a bot instruction is time I am not playing the game myself so fast clean and usually asymmetric bots please. I love the system in Nusfjord or A Feast For Odin. When I play COIN solo I play multi-handed rather than using any bots. I was interested enough to buy the game after watching your vid, and I've played 3 games and watched a few more online. I think the Collapse was just a result of the ability of the Arthurians to generate multiple unrest cards as one of their bot options, and it should not be much an issue with other factions except the Celts, who look to be even more efficient at generateing unrest for their opponent. It will be interesting to see how these Barbaric factions cope against other factions who are better at getting rid of their unrest then the Vikings were.
@nullitaire Жыл бұрын
Great! Thanks for the feedback. I am really looking forward to seeing how this tournament works out. I expect that there will be more games that end in collapse, but I don't think that they all will end that way. I guess we will have to wait and see. :)
@nigelbuckle3759 Жыл бұрын
Bot vs Bot is often going to end in collapse as the Bots are dumb and don’t manage unrest very well (one reason bots win collapse in solo). To make a bot v bot game less likely to end with collapse add more (quite a bit more) unrest to the common pile.
@nullitaire Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I am a bit worried that collapse will be very common in the tournament. However, I played a few test rounds with different factions before I started the tournament, and none of those games ended in collapse. So, I'm hoping that collapse will not be very common. I'm okay with some of the games ending in collapse, but it would be a real bummer if most of them end that way. I guess we will just have to see how the tournament shapes up.

The final match up I've been hoping for! I think one thing missing from the bots was taking into account whats left in the deck, for example in the 7th round of the hawk vs dove. The dove had a 5 1 and played the 5, even though there was only 2 card left in the deck. Meaning the hawk will take the two cards and dove will be left in a showdown with just a 1. I think in this instance they still would have ultimately lost the round though.
