Can you do exactly the same with the new land rover defender ?Or you recomend this instead of the defender?

Hey Thanks! Just came Back from Iceland that was my 6th big expedition to the Land of Fire, Ice, and Light. That is interesting question. I was looking in to Rovers it would be fascinating comparison between this two amazing machines - the only problem to do so - Rovers that available for rentals - mostly standard 4x4 vehicles without snorkel, raised suspension and bigger than normal tyres. And the Rovers with modifications are way too expensive and mostly from the previous tech age with manual gear box etc... After my various situations in very dangerous experiences with this Landcruiser - I had an instant wish to buy a Landcruiser and modify it even higher spec - because Car shows it self as near perfect experience.

Hey! Nice video :) I am planning to travel to Iceland again on September and I am thinking about renting exactly that car with Lotus! I saw they have a special insurance for river crossing. I would love to see the highlands, but I am a bit afraid of those rivers, although it looks like an exciting experience! The bad thing is that I have no idea how to actually learn river crossing, so for now I am looking for videos like this and reading a bit of info on the internet :)

Hey Maria, Thanks! Just came Back from Iceland that was my 6th big expedition to the Land of Fire, Ice, and Light. ill post a few separate videos about River Crossings soon. I have been in to highlands - its amazing but so dangerous even if you are well prepared, So many situations can occur out of nowhere. what have i experienced is flash floods, instant weather change to hurricane conditions, small lava stones becoming a danger with a high winds as they will crush windows, punctures, mechanical issues, towing ropes and issues, no telephone network, lack of fuel - and i can continue going in to the details - but one thing is for sure - this car is a tank, and having it in those situations was a life saving choice, if you need an advice or my routes with a special places in Iceland i can easily share it with you)

Hello, how amazing!! I hope you enjoyed your adventure in the most charming land! I will wait for your next river crossings videos, so hopefully I can learn something from them and get some preparation for my future trip :) And yeah, Icelandic weather can be pretty extreme, although I have not experienced that yet, even if I went there on winter. It was super calm and sunny when I was there on December 2022. I cannot imagine how it gets in the highlands! What a country, it is never the same and it is impossible to get enough of it. Btw, I would like to get some details about the routes you would reccomend, so I can start preparing in advance. Thanks so much, have a great night/day!

What kind of insurance does the rental company have if customers does river crossings? Or what kind of insurance does the customer have?

Hey Savoy! All info is on lotus rental website when you going through the paperwork. But obviously all responsibility if you flood the vehicle is on a driver as you have to asses the risks and have to have a plan B if plan A fails.

Eruptions is huge, but its much different than others as authorities do not let you close to it, everything is closed of for miles around and to get there you need to walk for at least 4-5 hrs, i have lost my drone trying to film it from far but had to get all my winter get and recovered it from 2.5km landing spot. Drone was fighting strong wind and Battery run out;) luckily after 5hrs of search and rescue- mission was successful;)

Hello ! Thanks! That place is famous for troubles, so many videos were people get seriously stuck and even unfortunate deaths. After my trip have been completed, Landcruiser moved in my car ranking - to another level, it called deep Respect, this Vehicle is a life saver. Apart of multiple crossings, it withstood 11 hour journey on F-26 and than f-910 to Askja. That is Most dangerous road in Iceland. New video on the way Will buy one and modify, with a tents and camping gear. I wouldn`t take a risk of crossing this streaming sea, as current is very deep and strong, but Icelandic farmer whom lives there, insist that i can do it... his words was - "you got a snorkel, low revs - you can swim :) i have told him that he is absolutely right and I am a skipper - good laugh appeared) This Landcruiser is about 1950mm high) His Vehicle was significantly higher (around 300-500mm) and Farmer crossed the river - almost effortless, to show me the path. and than - i did my move) heart beat, joy, adrenaline and relieve with a proper men's happiness... Love Iceland for all emotions She`s giving) But Þórsmörk took its TOLL - it have chosen my drone instead of me) Vehicle was rented from lovely people at lotuscarrental.is Really nice people

You are very skillful at crossing rivers, and you have an excellent vehicle. I think you really were pushing the vehicle to it’s limit, especially between 1:12 and 1:15. I was surprised at how well your vehicle stayed on course, I thought the current would push you sideways much more than it did. Your vehicle is heavy , but that current was very strong. I only crossed the Krossá once, and have told myself I will never do it again. Ég vona að þú festist aldrei í ánni.
@PuzzlesoftheWorld9 ай бұрын
Hello! Couldn`t agree with you more. Its a tricky business, First i have arrived at that crossing at night in freezing temperature with snow/rain poring down, i had to cross it over as my hotel (Volcano Huts Þórsmörk) was on the other side of the river... At night it was very, very scary... Emergency helicopter was around 500 meters away - saving someone else in darkness. (next morning there was a drowned car at that spot) After considering all pro`s and con`s i have slightly got front of 4x4 up to the level of a bonnet, where it meets a wind screen in the water, the stream of the river moved the car very uncomfortably and kept it tilted sideways, that is the moment when my sailing licence could be required immediately Luckily i have managed to get this heavy vehicle back on the bank with significant amount of adrenalin in my blood:) So i driven all the way down to lava museum, as all hotels at 1 o'clock in the morning was shut, spent a night in the car. In the morning i was driving back on F249, this is my favourite F road in Iceland, right to the end of the road, as you can camp there nicely in beautiful surroundings. On the way back i have approached desired river crossing again, but fear played in my mind. I wouldn`t take a risk of crossing it, as current is very deep and strong, but Icelandic farmer whom lives there, insist that i can do it... his words was - "you got a snorkel, low revs - you can swim :) i have told him that he is absolutely right and I am a skipper - good laugh appeared) This Landcruiser is about 1950mm high) His Vehicle was significantly higher (around 300-500mm) and Farmer crossed the river - almost effortless, to show me the path. and than - i did my move) heart beat, joy, adrenaline and relieve with a proper men's happiness... Love Iceland for all emotions She`s giving) But Þórsmörk took its TOLL - it have chosen my drone instead of me) Next morning i was behind the steering wheel for 11 hours on F-26 and than F-910 to Askja... the longest and most dangerous road in Iceland... One of next videos ill show it in full scale,.. after spending a night at Askja peak, in the evening both roads was shut, because of the same storm, that was chasing meon the way to Askja, and flooded the area, maybe it was one of most dangerous conditions in that journey, even for a Super Jeep felt sketchy ... That was special... Looks like i was the last person who have swam in Viti with water acidity at 1.5 PH...but that is in next videos) Ég vona að þú farir aftur á þennan áhugaverða stað sem einu sinni hræddi þig svo mikið! Ég fer aftur til Íslands í desember og fram í janúar, sjáumst þar) There is an interesting video on my channel about helping someone... kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6uTfWCVe5Z4j5o Kind Regards, Ven
