The phrasing and voicing in Schumann is stunning. The Arabeske is right up there with Horowitz, Kempff and even Cherkassky. Stunning playing.

Ms. Kate Liu is very inspirational! Phenomenal interpretations, amazing clarity in her technique, and her memorization work... super impressive. A new go-to artist for what Chopin, perhaps, ought to sound like.

This girl cannot play the Prokofiev, last movement is a mess. The people effusively praising her on here must not be musicians. And that D-flat nocturne was a bang fest and uneven AF.

@@saswald yes…you definitely are. Compare Evgeny Kissin’s performance of the Prokofiev Sonata and you should be able to hear how inferior her performance is on every level including STYLE. For the Chopin nocturne, you can pick practically anyone. On second thought, never mind, you obviously don’t have the ear to detect the difference in quality.

She is so good. She lets Chopin sing like no other, at the same time respecting every note and indication by Chopin on the score. So different from Bang Bang Lang Lang. Give me Kate Liu any time.

I will maintain to my death, if so be, that Kate Liu won the first price in the Chopin Institute Competition in Warsaw 2015, both among the live audience and online, by the way. She were the only one at that entire competition, who received standing ovations, and she did so at her final concerto, actually apparently with little practice in performing with a symphonic orchestra on top. The jury however selected a boring perfectionist, that I can't even remember the name of, over this brilliant artist. It is still a bit of a scandal, also in Poland for sure. Remember, that the live audience in Warsaw going to these competitions, probably is the most spoiled audience in the world. Warsaw has a live classical music scene year round, unlike so many western cities today, where modern popular music has taken over and many going to these concerts during the competition, listen to music all day and evening for the three weeks, that the competition endures. They probably dream about Chopin music, when they get home too. You can not convince me, that any professional jury knows better than such an audience. Seong-Jin Cho, the official winner, has however been paced to do several albums since and Kate Liu, the star of the audience still none. I had to look up his name, by the way. It is just a scandal, which broadens: All the fans of Kate Liu has been waiting for 7 years now for her recordings to be published! One good thing I can say about that same scandalous competition in 2015 is, that Charles Richard-Hamelin, in an age of 36, won the 2th place, which gives hope for all pianist starting in an older age than toddler, that they actually can make a profession on this scene too one day. He is actually a good pianist, I much prefer to listen to him too over the South Korean boring perfectionist winning.

@@loveispatient0808 I had recently a few ocassions to listen Cho and all was dissapoiting. Now, he as Korean pianist has very strong competitor from Korea too - Yunchan Lim who every piece turn into gold. There is another very young Kevin Chen (Chinese-Canadian) - with a perfect technique. Bruce Liu is great chopenist who understand taste of Chopin early works like no other. Comparing Seong to all of them he is just boring. On the other hand Kate is one of the most original pianists who can create such a deep focus of audience minds like the greatest pianists of all time. From my own concert experience the only other pianist who can create such aura is Grigory Sokolov. My older friend remember similar feeling whe they were listening Richter. Unfortunatelly so called carrer doesn't translate to quality of art. There are many factors other than just plying piano which are significant to big labels to create popular and good selling prod.. pianist. That is why some greatest pianist for long played without big lable contract - Sokolov became DG artist at his 65 yo, Jorge Bolet singed his contract with Decca at his 64.
