Hi Folks, Re buying a Tesla, given Musk's actions. Yes it probably is the best car for many people. But recently you reviewed MGs and said many would not buy the due to the badge, I would think that applies more to Tesla now. A car is more than just a useful tool, it is how it makes you feel, it is how it makes people think of you. I don't believe it would give a good impression of me at the moment. I know, I would not feel good about driving one. To be fair I'm not in the market at the moment.

Riverside is a good website/app if you want to podcast remotely. Otherwise I think the chat in the car works really well and at least it can be done while you're traveling somewhere or reviewing a car.

I too am happy 'stuck' with Tesla, I really wanted to go with something different however it's just really hard to justify anything else. The charging network is a bit factor but even things like the built in multi camera dash cam recordings, the responsive screen, decent phone app etc would all be things I'd miss.

Think Elon owns about 20% of Tesla shares/stock wise. SO even being CEO I guess he could be given the 'boot' from Tesla so to speak. Tesla is the group of thousands of engineers that make it up. :) New Y has indicator stalks :)

So, what I got from this podcast is you don't do so many podcasts because: * You don't have time * It needs to be planned properly * You haven't got decent equipment * You are lacking in talent * You have no braincells left 🙂 (and yes, I watched it to the end - who's the real fool here????)

There aren’t many many useful UK EV driving channels so please stay free. I used to support another UK channel from Lancashire but recently stopped watching because I don’t own a Tesla and the presenter has been too Tesla focused. Having said that I enjoy Jonathan Porterfields channel and the guy from near Aberdeen who, while his channel is solely Tesla based it is at least interesting and quite a lot of what he does is relevant to other EV, otherwise it’s Out of Spec and The Electric Trucker for EVs and Everything Electric/ Fully Charged that I watch.

Glad to have you guys back. The Elon factor definitely will affect sales and don't forget his most recent behaviour with his 'wave' very similar to that 1930's leader who started WWII. But always remember Elon didn't create Tesla, he is purely an investor in the company and happens to be the biggest investor. The new Model Y has an indicator stalk though. Don't go all professional on us, I love your style guys and have done so since at least when there was 25k subscribers to your main channel. :)

Agree on the Elon v sales issues, although in the EU it’s already measurable with actual research that both already owners not staying with the brand and prospective new buyers veering to other brands. The now mostly open Supercharging allows for this switch

I don't own a Tesla but I did use the chargers at Banbury. This week, I used Instavolt instead. There are plenty of non-Tesla chargers so not an issue. The problem with Musk is that he openly supports and encourages the far right and is in control of a social media that amplifies far right views. This is why I'm not going out of my way to support Tesla and the board needs to encourage him to step away. Most (UK) surveys show that over 50% have said they would no longer buy a Tesla.

Maybe write half a dozen topics on the back of a beer mat just to keep you on track?

Like most people I'm upset Musk has lost the plot. Woyud his behaviour change my behaviour. Would I not buy a Tesla product? Its certainly made me less likely. I was considering the Tesla Model Y for my next car. Certainly now I say that's not going to happen. That said if the price became so cheap then morals can go out the window. I still visit Teslas superchargers because they are usually a fair bit cheaper. If the Model Y was a fair bit cheaper it might be back on the menu.

From a non tesla owner. The reason they have some issues is their non maintenance schedules. Means that people skimp on getting them checked. So suspension & other issues are not picked up earlier. End of the day, other than a motor & battery, the rest of the car is the same. So running gear still needs the maintenance.

The only reason i can find to not buy a Tesla, because Elon Musk, is the risk of being vandalized by his detractors

Everyone mentions the charging network, and that is OK at the moment. But Musk fired everyone this summer because he was arguing with one person. Sure, back to work now mostly, but all those people are thinking about their next job. At the same time, more people and brands are using the chargers. Many need new long cables or faster speeds. How long will that charging network advantage last? And will Musk unilaterally damage some other part of Tesla?

For me, who the CEO is has no bearing on what products I buy or not buy.. IMO. Steve Jobs being a *** didn't stop me buying apple. Clive sinclair being obnoxious didn't stop me buying a spectrum and Clarkson being an ignorant berk didnt stop me dropping by his farm shop. Now perhaps it should, but there a hell of lot more nice people working there that need a job and encouragement.

I have owned an ev6 for 3 years, mot next week, traveled 75k miles road tripped up to 4k miles and found no problem charging and now it is even easier. The cost of charging without a membership is better for teslas and supercharging, but currently on ionity at 43p a kwh. So supercharging is such a huge plus anymore for a Tesla. Mind you the route planning on a Tesla is still the best.

Supercharger network still an advantage? Seems like there's not really a numbers advantage anymore or speed but certainly a price advantage.

Where you are talking about space Karen... Two points of data - EU sales figures for 2023 vs 2024 have just been published by the trade body that tracks/publishes this data... Telsa sales are down 29% within the EU with some month vs month eg Jan 2023 vs Jan 2024 sales figures showing a 40% drop in the sales number... Thus in the EU BMW EVs have in some months sold more cars than Telsa - I had a long-term thinking this would never happen Two polling and research companies have been tracking and researching buying habits and positive/negative/perceptions of car brands and people connected to them... The result is Musk is affecting the EU market share of Telsa by 30% to 60% negatively. They have been doing this for so long and the move to the political right and the more he has linked up the the orange one and we now waiting on the effect of his latest gesture and interference in the UK & esp Germany... The more negative the number has become. So far 3 German companies are now pulling out of Telsa in one way or another.

So if the model two ever comes out, will Musks behaviour put me off?

Musk is a Mad Genius but his latest behaviour, wow! Especially his interference in European politics!
