You are saving lives by sharing information and knowledge. My doctors tell me I likely have adhesions from my appendix rupturing causing abdominal and liver abscesses, peritonitis, and a gangrene infection. After my appendectomy I had to have an open liver surgery to remove an abscess that was lodged in a fold of my liver and then they removed my gallbladder. I now have episodes of extreme abdominal pain that wakes me up from a deep sleep, followed by nausea, then in a matter of seconds i break out in a cold sweat from head to toe. The episodes last anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. My doctors don’t seem too concerned when I tell them about my episodes. They say I could be having a partial bowel obstruction due to my adhesions and it resolved on its own, but this really scares me and freaks me out. They said imaging doesn't show Adhesion and the only way to know is surgery and if it’s not life threatening they don’t do surgery. I feel like I’m living with a time bomb inside of me.

This lecture was so incredibly helpful in understanding the nuances of closed loop obstruction rather than merely stating the fact that we need to look for two points of obstruction. Thank you!

I have masses that were diagnosed Bi-rads 3 and come back in six months. But the more I learn the more I doubt that. While they are both oval and circumscribed, they are hypoechoic, both with posterior shadowing. One is antiparallel. One has “suspicious calcifications”. I’m 43. Starting to worry. Should have gotten the biopsy but the radiologist made me feel like that was completely unnecessary. So confused. 😢
