Just picked up the new North Park TDH DIPA called Abstract Expression that has Idaho Pink Hop terpenes alongside Citra, ADHA 1624, and Strata. Combined with the Strata it created a palate that was heavy on the red fruits and berries, really good stuff ! Cheers

Great review on maybe the most taken for granted & overlooked " big craft" brewery in the business. My wife and I had the pleasure to visit our friends pre-Hurricane Helene in Flat Rock North Carolina, which is basically 15 minutes south of Ashville. On a Friday night they took us to Sierra Nevada in nearby Mills River for dinner and beers. First off, it's the most beautiful Brewery- property we've ever seen, very much French Chateaux in style. The amount & quality of tap only beers was amazing, I had a TDH'd Sierra Nevada Pale Ale that I can still taste. The quality and consistency has always impressed me so when I saw your review on this new recipe it didn't surprise me in the least.I'll make sure to snag a six pack at my local Trader Joes. I think as craft beer geeks we all get caught up in the latest must have releases and often pass up beers like Sierra Nevada. For the consistency and price there is nobody better in that size range that can brews beers like a small craft brewery IMHO. Cheers !

Thanks for the great comment! TDH Sierra Nevada pale sounds awesome. Whenever I find their beer really fresh, I buy it.

Chouffffffffeee! I need to revisit them - the clove funk is a distant memory.

My suspicion on why he cellars for so long is too allow a hoppy Brett saison to come into balance. Very easy for a beer like this to be too hoppy, or unbalanced right out of the gate

Just saw this at my local TW&B and scooped it up. Can’t wait to try.

Why does Tree House hate IBUs????!!!
@digestingbeerАй бұрын
this is a pale ale which isn't an especially bitter style. they do make a few bitter west coast ipas but clearly their style is new england ipa, which they helped to originate.
@GregD68Ай бұрын
oooh looks like Tree House has gone a bit old school (for them). I used to love English pale ales, then like most others began to think them a bit too bland relative to all the modern American hop bombs. But I've come full circle and really enjoy a well balanced old school IPA. Even thought it's more hoppy, I'd put SN Celebration in that category too. This sounds like a nice one. Cheers.

I absolutely agree 100% with your assessment that Lunch is comparable to Pliny. I call it East Coast Pliny. I've found myself gravitating towards Lunch a lot lately because of that consistency and quality. It's always good. ALWAYS. I don't mind paying a little more for it, especially if it is going to be my only beer for the evening.
@budrhoades60492 ай бұрын
Man, I wish my Local Trader Joe's got these ! However our better bottle shops in So Cal. do a good of getting relatively fresh bottles of Lunch, Dinner and Peeper every few months. They're usually in the $ 9- 10 range, curious what you paid at TJ'S. Cheers.
@digestingbeerАй бұрын
$7 is what I paid for Lunch, which is common. Some places jack up the price. I know only one store that sells Peeper for $6.
@budrhoades60492 ай бұрын
I always crack up when I hear about the prices of Tree House beers. Here in So Cal. A Pale Ale from the likes of Monkish, Green Cheek or North Park start around $16 per four pack. IPA's from those above mentioned are $18-20 and a DDH DIPA is $ 22-24. DDH TIPA's are anywhere from $24 to $28 per four pack. Tree House has to be one of the best values in craft beer. Nice review as always. Cheers !
@digestingbeerАй бұрын
thanks! yeah, one reason i buy so much tree house is the price. plenty of shops in boston mark up beer to so cal prices. trillium is quite expensive, even at the brewery.

you can only buy their beer at one of their locations. they have a spot in saratoga. i usually go to their location in tewksbury, MA.

hmmm…I love stouts but have a natural disdain for pastry/milkshake stouts. Too cloying and “fake” for me. This one certainly looked the part of a nice stout and sounded...decent (?)
@digestingbeer3 ай бұрын
I gotta be in the mood for them. The style seemed like a joke to me until i had some complex malty big barrel-aged versions and tree house stouts. I've drank way more guinness extra stout than pastry stout.

Stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this at total wine here in Atlanta. When I had it in germany I would say it was the best beer I ever had. For the import one, I would say it was excellent. Theres a beer advocate thread that decodes the date codes on the bottles. The six pack i got was $16, brewed in late june. No skunk, I would consider it a full body lager, nice hop and malt at first with a crisp finish. I usually got Spaten as my favorite import, but they stopped shipping 12 packs and the 6s are always skunked. Spaten is a lighter body with a equally crisp but dryer finish which I prefer. I'll wait until production dates get past October, I've noticed german beer (especially bottles) taste better when shipped during the winter. Have you tried Paulaner Munich Lager?

Thanks for the info! I have a review of the Paulaner on my channel.

I love that Strawberry note I get these days from Mosaic and at times good quality Strata.The west coast IPA's from Green Cheek and Everywhere that feature Mosaic and Strata really kick out those strawberry traits, so unique and refreshing. I'll need to have my nephew who lives in Phoenix bring me a few cans from Arizona Wilderness on his next visit over to So. Cal. Nice review, Cheers !

I absolutely loooove the Broo Doo. I get it here fresh in Indiana. It is what they say it is, a harvest ale. Nice balance of malt and hops. I totally agree, very old school. After one to many "hop juices" lately I've come full circle and appreciate a well balanced, if demure, ale. I do miss Born Yesterday. Cheers!
@GregD684 ай бұрын
Trying this now. I quite like it, perhaps even more than the O.G. Pseudo Sue. And I typically don't love the NZ hops. I think Toppling makes some great NEIPAs, perhaps the best out there for those of us in the Midwest who can’t get access Treehouse, Trillium, etc. Cheers!

Occasionally Henry from Monkish collabs with the Veil and unfortunately for me, most of those hazy DIPA & TIPA's are Galaxy heavy. Galaxy just hasn't been the same for 3 or 4 years now. Cheers!

Mine, from Total Wine in NC, is much cloudier and I have to admit it is very un-Kolsch like. I was not happy with it. And I checked the beer advocate rating before buying. Way overrated in my opinion.
