Dear Laura ...I went through exactly the same, as you described it and I just want to say that I fully empathise and understand all your feelings. It's been exactly the same for me. I want to thank you for your frankness and courage in accepting it. I am still struggling after many years of being insulin dependent but hope one day this changes for us, for the better. I thank you for sharing your experience and making it known...❤

Did you get your insulin level tested prior to diagnosing type 1 diabetes, or did the doctor just told you that you have type 1 diabetes?

Hi, I love your video so encouraging. I am 14 years old and I just got diagnosed two weeks from this past Monday. I got diagnosed from going to the doctors and getting a blood work. My mom was getting concerned about me because my hair was red deck, but now it’s like really really dead And also I was drinking a lot and peeing a lot as well. So she took me to the doctors to get bloodwork and the doctor had me do a urine sample. And it turns out my A1c was 14+. When they actually like it to be below 5.5. The doctor called my mom and told her to rush went to the emergency room. This emergency room was in Lincolnton North Carolina. They took my blood sugar and said that it was 472 and they would like me to be around 80 to 120 so that is really high. And then we were told that this hospital doesn’t take kids so they had to drive me all the way to Charlotte over an hour away to take me to and we stay there for about three or four days for them to me and antibiotics. pumped me because I had some infections. And obviously, we had some training with the nutritionist, diabetes, educators, and endocrinologist. You’re right going through. This is going through the grief process first year in denial and you’re sad and angry and then you accept it. I feel like I am indeed denial and sadness and anger portion of this journey. It’s also hard because I’m used to being so independent considering the blind. And then I have to now have my mom or dad and checked me. It’s so frustrating. 15:26

Thank you for sharing! I recently got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I’m considering switching to a pump since my Endo suggested it for how busy I am 😅 I’m a big baby when it comes to pain (the irony lol) and wanted to know in all honesty how bad does the cannula hurt when it goes in? Is it almost like when you put a cgm on? Thank you 🩷😊

The thirst is in response to the urination, not the other way around. Your body was using urination to try to eliminate the sugar in your bloodstream, causing dehydration, causing extreme thirst.

Hello what's the cause of Ur T1D, I was 15 months old baby when diagnosed with T1D today 46, Cause of My T1D Vitamin D Deficiency and Chicken Pox Virus. After Corona Pandemic cases of T1D have gone up including adult onset T1D same cause Vitamin D Deficiency and Corona Virus/Vaccine. Vitamin D Deficiency weakens the Immune System n luck factor might have faced some virus. Thanks 🙂🙂😁😁.

Shes a ginger and god hates gingers, you thinking the cause of your T1D is vitamin D deficiency and chicken pox is the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Correlation doesn't equal causation, and you will never EVER know the reason as to why you or anyone got T1 diabetes. You saying T1D diagnoses have gone up because of vitamin D deficiency and corona virus and the vaccine is the second dumbest thing I have ever heard. You need to stop posting stupid shit online.

Hi Laura, how are you doing? It seems you haven’t made any videos in about a year, so hopefully you are still doing well. Have you ever thought about trying out a ketogenic diet to help manage your diabetes? I’ve heard that it can help lower the amount of insulin to take as well as keep better control of stable blood sugar. Thanks for your videos about type 1 diabetes. Very much appreciate your experiences.

After 45 years of MDIs I started with the Omnipod in 2014. It was the best thing I ever did and massively changed my life. A pump was suggested previously but I did not like the idea of tubes because of the stuff I had read about it so I declined a pump. For some reason my Endo had not mentioned the pod, at all. When she finally did I decided to take a leap of faith (after 45 yrs it's scary to change) and try it. I would have hypos virtually every night using Lantus and I was very tired of it. From the first night I used the pod, I had no more night time hypos. My Endo said that it appears that using the Omnipod which is an entirely different system from using pens was what my body needed and it functioned much better using only Novorapid insulin. I absolutely recommend anyone who is feeling nervous about using the pod, to take a leap of faith and try it. Hopefully it will change your life like it did mine.

I have been diagnosed last month and still adjusting to things. At first, I thought it was just normal that I'm feeling tired always and being thirsty all the time. What also got me concerned and to prompt me to consult with a doctor was when I lose weight rapidly like 15kgs. in just over two months without having some diet or exercise. First low blood sugar incident was very scary.

I have a question. In the scenario that your blood sugar gets really low (and you don't inject insulin and eat carbs), once you start experiencing the symptoms, can you stand up, close your eyes, and focus really hard? Does doing that make the symptoms go away?
@russellseaton2014
@russellseaton2014 Жыл бұрын
You DO NOT inject insulin if your blood sugar is low. Insulin causes blood sugar to go down. You DO eat fast acting carbohydrates to bring your blood sugar up. But not too many carbohydrates because then you go high and then have to take insulin to bring your blood sugar down lower. Roller coaster. Up down up down up down up down up. Many diabetics do not experience symptoms. Meaning they are unaware their blood sugar is going low. They simply go brain dead more or less while their body is still able to move and thrash around and kick and punch. You can stand up, meaning when your blood sugar goes low, you do not just collapse into a pile on the floor. You just remain standing. Your brain is not functioning, it is gone, but your body is not asleep. Your brain cannot focus really hard. It does not work. The only thing to make the symptoms of low blood sugar go away is to get sugar, calories, carbohydrates inside you. And then wait a few minutes for them to be absorbed by the body.
