Its not just the charging stations, do we have enough electricity capacity if EVs are adopted widely? Not to mention the energy consumption for the newly built data centres. Btw what powers our electricity?

EU is possibly following Malaysia's lead in trying to protect domestic private car assemblers - requiring imports to be sold above minimum price. For Malaysia imports must be above RM 100k (€ 22k)

So ... Protecting " Inefficient and Low Tech " manufacturers ... AT the EXPENSE of Consumers? .. Same as Protecting "ELITES" from going bankrupt ?? ...... As Chinese EV amanfacturers are Better In ALL Aspects of EV manufacturing ? By the WAY ..... HOW BIG is Malaysia Car Market ?? 600,000 Per YEAR ? Vs China 1.1 million per MONTH ???

No thanks. Why should i stress myself, everyday scare runs out of power, charge takes hours and hours, just to make EV car maker rich? Until EV chargers are everywhere and can charge 100% under 5 minutes, it's simply not pratical.
@starman19942 ай бұрын
1. Where are these lower middle income people going to charge their EV cars? Especially those staying at Bandar Tun Razak flats for example (of course those in landed properties would be able to install home chargers). 2. What are the costs of charging and and maintining the EV charging stations? How many such new infrastructures can be built especially in over-crowded cities like KL? 3. Is the general public aware of the cost of replacing battery packs that are faulty right after the warranty period is over? 4. Is the Malaysian powergrid able to sustain additional load from all EV's charging all throughtout the day + new data centres popping up that are also known for heavy electricity usage? 5. Is the Malaysian fire brigrade equipped and well trained to handle undreground EV fires or in multistory carparks (which is prevalent in bigger cities such as KL, Penang and JB)? 6. In the US, EV car accidents (many EV cars involved in accidents were classified as total loss, because of fears that he battery pack might be damaged) are causing the insurance agencies to increase premiums exponentially as well as some even stopped accepting new policies for certain EV car models...will the same thing happen in Malaysia or is there going to be regulations stopping insurance companies from over-charging on premiums for EVs?
@starman19942 ай бұрын
Many average Malaysians had resorted to prolonging servicing intervals for their cars in order to save money...and yet they can continue to drive the car for 10 years and beyond without requiring a new engine or full overhaul. Even if a new engine is required, it is much cheaper to source for second hand engines. Can that be the case for EV cars? What are the long term costs?

For Malaysia currently with some infrastructure for EV unavailable, the market should go with hybrid first then down the road in the future fully EVs cars but those combustion engine aren't going off the radar anytime soon.
@thlim14602 ай бұрын
There is a need to look at regulation in place to ensure EVs are not allowed to park in enclosed carpark especially in multi-storey car parks including in high rise buildings and condominiums. This is to avoid the potential damage of an EV fire which had damaged many cars parked in the building and even the building structure could be destroyed as in the multi-storey carpark at Luton airport where 1,500 vehicles were damaged including the building structures. Do we want to wait till such fire occur locally before we formulate and precaution?
@sunshinesun1212 ай бұрын
There are By-Laws in place now for "EV Chargers " installations and safety. Do read and check with laws for EV chargers in existence. If public is worried about EV fires.... LAW MUST be implemented to HAVE "SPECIAL CAR PARKING" for EV's in all PLACES. So do PUBLIC/Government need to spend lots of $$$ .. " For JUST CASE scenario ?" . Just like OVER SIZE ALL DRAINS "JUST in CASE" there is Heavy Rain ??
@nshon725 күн бұрын

EV infrastructure is more damaging to the eco system than fossil fuels.. and the whole IPCC Climate Science specifically excludes “The Sun” from its data collection & analysis and only focuses on Carbon (which is less than o.5% of the entire atmospheric makeup)as the culprit.

ev will still fail without 100k restriction, we dont have enof clean electricity and ev infrastructure is too expensive. focus on sarawak bagong to hydrogen to hydrogen car is much chances to get carbon neutral goal. hydrogen cheaper storage and transport without sewa land from tnb electric network.
@user-cf5uf7vf2g2 ай бұрын
While generating electricity by burning coal provides sufficient capacity, the real challenge lies in the costly process of laying cables for distribution, which is often more expensive than the generators themselves. This is why solar energy providers struggle when relying on TNB's grid to deliver electricity to places like Johor. However, I appreciate that TNB is carefully considering its decisions and not exploiting the existing infrastructure for ventures that don't benefit the public. I definitely don't want to experience total blackouts but have data centers running 24/7 like in Taiwan.

@Mochi50652 ай бұрын
True, EV resales price is just worst than hybrid and combustion engine. Anyone who owned an EV know that. Battery capacity depreciation is a lot worse than we think. Nobody want an EV when it's range is less than 350km, most of the EV today battery capacity will hit 350km after 3 years.
