Just a nitpick, board games are more like video games than toys, some of the arguments between points 1 and 2 don't hold that well.

There have been many Hot Wheels adaptations actually. Sure, they were animated, but they were insane. They were travelling through dimensions, the cars had Weapons, the fate of the multiverse was at stake. I don't know if it was good, but I loved it as a child. Hell yeah I wanted to buy the car that the robots in the show drive.

I've always enjoyed your channel but lately things seem to be veering in an odd direction. Using occult practices even as a joke really left a bad taste in my mouth, even the erotic devices box was too much too.

I would really like to hear your opinion on the Sonic the Hedgehog show that mentioned that you watched when you were six. That was the one my friends always referred to as "The Serious One" of the Sonic shows. The stories in The Serious One were so interesting at the time that they later crossed over to the Archie Sonic Comic series and ran until the 2017. I think if videogame movies/shows want to be successful again they should try to say something with more "serious" storytelling

I'm not a conspiracy guy but what if the companies that own the studios are actively trying to sabotage the movie theater business so they can go back to the business model that existed before the 1948 United States v. Paramount Pictures case. Yes this would create monopolies but Disney right now basically is a monopoly and the Fed's don't care. You think the current Supreme Court would give a damn about Disney and Universal owning the majority of surviving theaters?

My thing how can they make good adaptions of comics, but can't do the same with manga. I guess because with comicbook movies, they shove a billion pop culture references in a mediocre scripts and grade A camera work and CGI, you cant add American pop culture references in non American comics/manga films. So why dont they go to Japan learn about the culture then make a unattached to America general concepts type of movie, it will kill in the box office.

Hey, Patrick. Just want to let you know that I absolutely loved this video. This is genuinely one of my favourite KZbin videos. Question, do you think that if James Gunn’s DCU turns out to be highly successful and if the MCU sorts itself out, do you think that there will be any chance that superhero movies could become guaranteed hits again?

Patrick is the only sane person. Close to 100% of the commentators are morons who only defend nitpicking because that's the only way they can feel smart. Getting caught up by irrelevant details is not smart. Patrick said it again and again. That's not what movies are about. It doesn't matter. You guys just lack the competence to know what's important. You only repeat what other mouthbreathers say.

You talk about movies that have made their money back and they just haven't unless you pretend that the studios are getting all the proceeds from theaters which isn't even remotely true. A bunch of the movies you are talking about that "gives you hope" haven't made their money back and probably never will because they arent going to be hits on streaming. You are deluding yourself because you desperately want something to be true that just isn't.

I think a shift we could see is remaking or rebooting very bad or bad films into very good or good flims letting these flims do justice for the original one like with dune. We could get a good or very good batman and robin or catwoman remake with this new dc reboot or get a way better remake for avatar the last airbender to name a few big budget bad movies.

When you start talking about video games toy adaptations into movies, on paper it sounds awful, but like many other projects that came before like Lego or Barbie, something great can come out if you have the right person to lead the project. Like for example, Monopoly can become a great movie commentary about capitalism or the housing crisis; or the Sims can be a satirical critique about being part of a familiar unit or a community, and how having to live in one is more about following the right choices as a videogame would expect from you instead of actually living your life as your true self.

I know your pirate movies prediction was a joke, but i could see a world where the next big thing is escapism into the past. It could be pirates and westerns and samurai and all those classic adventure tropes reimagined for the modern day. I think that would actually be a lot of fun.

The film Death Sentence would've been a better adaptation of Punisher than the three films based on the comic. Additionally, Collateral would've been a decent adaptation of Grand Theft Auto.

Speaking of Shakespeare, many of his earlier plays were adaptations of older plays. I just really want a live adaptation of G.I. Joe that does the cartoon justice and with action sequences and a story that can be taken seriously by an Xennial audience

The reason original movies are seeing more profit is because the whole movie industry is dying, and these smaller films happen to be the only films of decent quality. Small films will only get more visibility as overall revenue declines. Films as a medium are straight up dying and audiences are giving their attention to other things. There will be no successor to the MCU blockbuster because in a decade or two, the industry will be incapable of generating massive profits from fewer theaters and smaller, more niche audiences. The good news is the remaining audience will likely get better movies as studios are forced to produce higher quality films on smaller budgets and be more selective with their releases.

Video game adaptations in a television series format is definitely the way to go. I feel like video game movies aren’t rewatchable. You just get a very compressed story and some nostalgic feels. That being said, who do I have to talk to for a Chrono Trigger tv series?

**Edit: Commented too early. That’s basically what you talk about in this video**. Something I’ve never understood. Ryan Reynolds could likely do any movie he wanted at this point. But he apparently has zero interest in “acting” anymore. The last interesting choose was “Life”. Where he’s only in the sci fi film for maybe half. Since then it’s been 6 Underground Deadpool 2 Hitmans Bodyguard Hitmans Bodyguard 2 Free Guy Red Notice The Adam Project Spirited If Just roles where he can basically play Deadpool and not have to try. I think he will wear out his welcome if he continues doing this ala the Rock. The Rock slide is coming and it will be fast. Reynolds I believe has much more acting talent so hopefully he pushes his boundaries
