A few years back, Steve, you wrote me that you were developing new sound sets for the motif XF Karma....I had written that my genre is primarily rock, and you were forthright upfront in telling me the Karma at that time may not float my boat. Wondering if there's been any development that would appeal to classic rock players like myself. Many thanks.

I'm about to release our first Xpansion pack of 32 new Performances. A few of them are rock-oriented, some are dance-oriented, some are ambient, etc. We put a variety of styles in the package. I don't really think that I'm ever going to focus on a particular style in a package because it's just hard to make a return that way. A general package appeals to *most* owners, while a specific style only appeals to a few owners.

Would be Nice that Stephan also such with Kronos does
@Rich77147 жыл бұрын
The sounds are good. The M3, however, has such a small lifespan, due to it's notorious touch-screen failing problem, that unless you want to throw your money down the drain as I did, I'd advice staying clear of this synth, but look to use KARMA on another, newer synth.
@karma-lab7 жыл бұрын
The failure of the touch screen is not the "death" of an M3. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to get it replaced. I had two M3's (now just one) and I've had the screen replaced in both of them, for a "brand new" M3. It's true it fails, but this is well-known and easy to fix. Just sayin'...
@Rich77147 жыл бұрын
The point is firstly that expensive synths shouldn't be designed with screens which need to be replaced, & secondly, as with many musicians, I certainly don't have the money to go & buy screens when I already had to save up to buy the synth in the first place. It's not even possible to re-calibrate the screen, since the screen doesn't work. If there were some other simple button functions, for example horizontal arrows, then I would be able to move between tabs at the bottom of the screen.
@karma-lab7 жыл бұрын
I'm not going to get in hosting rants about Korg and/or device durability here. I guess you can either fix it, or use it as a boat anchor - it's up to you. I'm just telling you it's definitely fixable and you will have a like-new M3 when you're done.

you could see the discussion, or I could just tell you it's a really common repair and your local repair shop will almost definitely be familiar with it. Give em a call, every single m3 had this issue eventually, it's utterly disastrous, luckily in the replacement they say the issue is fixed...we'll see in a few years

Where can I get this Karms MW software for my Karma-MOSS synth? I've never even heard of such software? Sound editing directly within Karma is rewarding but tedious, and bank swapping via floppy disk barely cuts it any more so I was hoping there was something like this for the Karma workstation, and there is!! But where can I download it?
@karma-lab8 жыл бұрын
@HardlineFeminists You can get it at Karma-Lab.com and read about it here: www.karma-lab.com/mw - but it is only for editing the KARMA parts of the programs and combis. It doesn't do synth parameters and bank swapping etc. as you hope.

I cry EVERY time I watch the video. The amazing "song-smithing""by Kay married to the perfectly placed video segments evoke heart- wrenching memories . Moist of the time I expect music to up-lift us but there are special instances where respect and decorum prevail. This was quite a fitting acknowledgement to brave ,personal sacrifice so we can all share in the wonders of "pushing the envelope " .We will all greatly miss those 7 souls and forever remember their ultimate sacrifice! Steven Kay you can be oh ,so very proud and also the other participants in this tribute song and video.

is the m3 same sounds with the m50?
@karma-lab8 жыл бұрын
+Jade Pascual - it has the same programs as far as the EDS engine goes. It does not have the Radias Expansion, and it does not have the KARMA feature, and it doesn't have as many banks for sound storage.
@instrumentalistjade83678 жыл бұрын
+Karma-Lab oh i see. but interms of sounds, does the m50 has good sounds too ? for gigging?
@instrumentalistjade83678 жыл бұрын
+Karma-Lab if youll choose between the m50 and the korg triton classic. which is better
@karma-lab8 жыл бұрын
+Jade Pascual - yes, the m50 has similar sounds to the m3 and it's good for gigging - very light too. I would take an M50 over a Triton at this point because a) it's newer, and b) it has the awesome KARMA M50 Software available to go with it: karma-lab.com/km50

Stephen, nice demo, only demo - you're showing incredible possibilities of Karma in Oasys (and similarly in Kronos etc.) without "how make it". I'm looking for professional Video Tutorial for Karma in Oasys. Comparing our fast life with Korg Oasys Manual (aprox. 1300 pages!) Video tutorial will be the best way to "know how". I am sound designer for certain cult instruments (Roland D50, a few of VST-AU like Spectrasonics Omni, Stylus RMX), but Oasys is really complicate. I try change Karma sequences to my needs, but even MIDI OUT of Karma patterns is working very strange. I don't understand why in Oasys no direct USB MIDI connection with DAW. In standard scenario of MIDI connection are unpredictable situations, latency etc. In one word, you are great Sound Designer, producer in Karma-Lab - please make a professional Video Tutorial for Korg Oasys. especially Karma features. THX in advance.

That's not a simple question, since a lot of things need to be taken into consideration. Something with at least 61 keys, 8 assignable knobs or sliders, 8 or 16 assignable pads, assignable buttons etc. Happy to discuss it with you over at karma-lab.com/forums/yamaha
