The first time we find the Enneagram symbol in modern times is, indeed, in Ouspensky's book, "In Search of the Miraculous'. However that book is simply a record of Gurdjieff's teaching as noted down in detail by Ouspensky. It was Gurdjieff himself who discovered the symbol and introduced it to his students. Your comment really caught my attention, so I feel drawn to say something here that I would never usually say in a public forum. I have found my way to this video as a part of some incredibly extensive research into the cause of a disorder I have been facing. If I were to go into detail, most would say I was crazy (and technically, they would be somewhat correct, at least in the sense that I have a serious mental illness that impairs my ability to function and to live a normal life). So instead, I'll just say that my current branch of research is focused on Kabbalah and any symbolism involved. Now, to address your comment and why it made me feel the need to respond... Apparently, there IS some sort of connection between the structure of Kabbalah's Tree of Life and the quadrants of the brain. I've seen a few videos that mention it. The problem is, I don't particularly care to go into detail about them. I'll just say that if this is something you're truly curious about, you should try searching for the information because it IS out there. It may be buried in some dark places, but I've come across it more than once. There IS something to it and I'll be adding it to my list of "things to research more thoroughly" as well. I'm also an INFP, btw 😅

My (S) my third preference is like the neutral position in a trinary of three positive and negative and neutral. (F) would be at point three positive, (N) would be at point 6 negative, and (S) at point Nine neutral. When I switch on or activate to the Higher emotional centre and higher mental centre the two shocks felt would be the negative at point three turning or flipping too positive, First-Shock and the positive at point six turning too negative Second Shock felt the dual in the everything feeling as it is both mass and energy would be the continues osculation's between negative and positive at both points as if for some need points six and three needs to return back to negative and positive the entropic state. The spiritual state or higher state has that dual switching going on and you can hold it all day. The Nural at point Nine I stated talking about is like the screen it is dual it is a self and screen osculation's dyad. Interestingly if you sum the osculation's at Points three six and nine, we sum six and the universe being host is the seventh. You know Univers is Host when you switch on and if someone says Universe is not Host then they are not in the switched-on state. Another way to describe it to take a breath and allow yourself to end up on the other side of the Mind Heart Duality. When you, authentically switch on like in the morning when awaken you can place your hand on your heart and breath yourself in and in doing so you cross the divide of the dual and you are switched on there is no shock felt because the path has already been established, just that lighter spacious comfortable feeling of being authentically balanced. I keep forgetting to get to the point. The Neutral being at point nine enables the points six and three to be the positive and negative a multiplicity and the screen being a neutral means the information projected on to the screen can be of any natural nature. That is F***ing amazing that it is so simple to explain. You can see the stress in the body and see illness like a cancer or you can choose not to see anything like that at all. It's amazing. Its miraculous. Thats why thinkers call the search for experiencing the authentic self as being in search of the miraculous. Anyways enough of my waffle no one is really interested in the metaphysical level of reality. At least not until it's too late. I wonder how the global stability traveling along the geopolitical unrest between faction's shore is becoming intense.

Your third preference is the S function and last is the T function. IN order to get to the balanced state of utilising higher emotional centre and higher mental centre making the law of three seven and one is essential. I will cut and paste something I just finished writing on a forum. I was talking to a INFP 9w1 sp/so tritype 926 (9w1, 2w1, 6w7,) about point six and seven and subsidiary wings for the primary type nine. As a INFP 9w1 sp/so tritype 926 (9w1, 2w1, 6w7,) Your ISFP and ESFP must be often felt. Your Sp/sx must have some order of influence upon your third preference (S) in INFP. If Ouspensky had the being of a small child, then how could he write the best book on Gurdjieff, and also his earlier Tertium Organum (before even meeting Gurdjieff), which is another masterwork?

@@lucassiccardi8764 gurdjieff said on meeting ouspensky that if he understood what he had written he gurdjieff would bow down before him and kiss his feet. Knowledge left brain....doesn't mean anything..the whole being (holy) must know . Intuition telepathy etc all right brain....

@@notshirley32 Gurdjieff said that if anybody could understand all they had read, they would know everything they needed. This doesn't mean that anyone can write something like Tertium Organum or In Search for the Miraculous. Ouspensky was maybe more of a rational guy, nobody is perfectly balanced, but this doesn't take away the fact that he was a creative genius and by far the best amongst Gurdjieff's students. Where are you taking the quote that "they all knew Ouspensky had the essence of a small child" from? Why would have so many people followed Ouspensky if everybody knew he was that unbalanced? And where does Gurdjieff mention cerebral hemispheres? The motor centre and the emotional centre are not the right cerebral hemisphere.

Having the essence of a small child is likely a very endearing comment seeing as Gurdjieff referred to adults with no essence as being dead. Essence typically stops its development around age 7 for most. This essence of a child likely contributed to his literary genius. Tertium and Fragments of an Unknown Knowledge are two of my favorite books as well. Words are rigid and often lead to the exact opposite sentiment that was intended to be conveyed. The comment was not meant as a slight but this is just my humble opinion.
