if u hear metal grinding on metal then stops and don't do it any more does that mean it's the wheel bearing?

And all you need to do is damage and stretch the teeth on your brand new belt and risk destroying your whole engine for not much more effort at all

The real issue of WHY it jumped timing still isn't resolved tho
@EasyFixShaun6 сағат бұрын
Good question! The timing didn't jump time. It's a trick demo useful for some engines during belt replacements 😃

What about Subaru where the cams are under tension and U need a tool to hold them in place twin cams and quad cams
@EasyFixShaun6 сағат бұрын
Good question. This is a perfect trick for that application. If the first attempt of timing the system is off one tooth any sprocket...perform the trick and you wouldn't need to start over by removing belt, compressing the tensioner, etc 😃

You should never turn an engine backwards - some engines break cam followers
@toxiclaboratories707020 сағат бұрын
As a mechanic don't ever do this, for one it could damage the belt and tear the cords inside the belt for two if your engine is an interference engine you could potentially damage the valves. Just save yourself the hassle and loosen the tensioner and move the belt over a tooth.

Always get these types of parts with a grease fitting so you can service them and that will double the life of the part....i have cut boots off so called pre greased parts to see how much they grease them and its like a little dab lol 😆
@EasyFixShaun6 сағат бұрын
Great comment! But complicated subject. Many cheap parts manufacturers install a cheap grease zerk as a marketing trick to swoon you into thinking the parts are better or will last longer while being cheaper... Win win right?? The problem with cheap parts, you could pump them with grease at every stop sign, and no durability gain will be observed. That has been my experience. I have given them a fair shot for the same reasons as you. But they all come back prematurely failed. Usually in 6-18 months. OEM Sway bar parts never come back, relatively speaking. They last 5-10 years. If OEM quality parts had zerks they would however last longer because they are high quality. Just my take 😃

The belt also goes over the camshaft, right? No... Don't turn the timing belt when it's out of alignment. The valves are going to crash.
