So honored to have met Derrick while working at Camillus. What a Blessing to see him continue to be a great testimony of what compassion can do in changing lives.

I WAS HOUSE BORN IN KEY BISCAYNE IN 1940, A RICH BOY, MY FATHER LEFT ME A STINKING AMOUNT OF MONEY. MY FATHERS WILL NEVER ALLOWED ME TO GET RID OF IT UNTIL 1990, WHEN MY LAWYERS BROKE MY FATHERS WILL AND I GAVE EVERY CENT TO CHARITY. I LEFT FOR WAR AT A VERY YOUNG AGE. I ENDED UP IN THE 101 AIRBORNE RANGERS, MOTOR CYCLE RECON IN LAOS AND CAMBODIA. I SERVED MY 3 YEARS AND CAME BACK HOME. I LEFT ON AGENT STATUS WITH BLACK OPS. SPECIAL FORCES, WORKING WITH THE CUBAN UNDERGROUND, ARMY, NAVY AND AGENCY AND WAS INSERTED INTO CUBA TO OVERTHROW FIDEL F-ING CASTRO AND HIS MERRY GROUP OF MEN. 60 YEARS I WAS IN CUBA FIGHTING. I WAS CAPTURED. 13 OF THOSE 60 YEARS IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. BEATEN, TORTURED, STARVED, ETC. AND ABANDONED BY ALL. LATE 2008, I WAS THROWN OUT OF CUBA, TO THE TARMAC OF THE MIAMI AIRPORT, I WAS DYING. I WENT TO THE MIAMI VETERANS OFFICE NEAR JACKSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOR HELP. I GOT IN THIS HUGE ARGUMENT WITH THE CAPTAIN THERE. NO RECORDS. I WAS A GHOST, 3RD. LEVEL SECRET. NO RECORDS. I WAS ON THE STREETS OF MIAMI FOR ALMOST ONE YEAR. THEN THE MIRACLES CAME, 15 IN ALL OF THAT YEAR. ONE OF THEM BEING BECKMAN HALL, FOR THE HOMELESS RUN BY CAMILLUS HOUSE OF MIAMI. I WAS THERE A FEW MONTHS. THEN ONE OF THOSE MIRACLES CAME IN. ONE SECOND I DID NOT HAVE A PENNY TO MY NAME, THE NEXT SECOND: $27,000.00 IN A BANK ACCOUNT. THEN ANOTHER MIRACLE, THEY RENTED ME AN APARTMENT IN SHEPHERDS COURT, IN THE HUGE CAMILLUS STRUCTURE. I WAS THERE A VERY SHORT TIME. I THEN WENT TO HAWAII TO VISIT OLD FRIENDS FOR A TWO MONTH VACATION. I MOVED HERE AND HAVE BEEN HERE EVER SINCE. GOD BLESS CAMILLUS HOUSE AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE. GOD BLESS MR. FRED MIMS DIRECTOR AND DR. PAUL AHR. THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND HELP.
May the soul of Fr. Raphael rest in peace. Thank you for servi g with love and compassion all the brothers and sisters in Miami. God bless you always! 🙏❤

Someone must play that role. Someone must bear witness as "The least of these, my brethren." You may find yourself in more than one of these roles throughout the course of life. May you be found faithful!

We have here a beautiful presentation from a gifted person who has along with many others found the gift of meditation........ How simply does he gently lead us into this life changing practice! " Into that great place we call the heart. " " Just be a simple, pure beautiful child." Oh that others find this " pearl of great price" . maranatha..." almost too simple to be true...but it is true." " all that love that floods our heart by the Holy Spirit ...." " be still and know that I am God " Pete

Oh man that place was awesome, when I went in there I had more than 4 felonies for combat with the police and now I have 0 felonies and I'm even certified in the power to arrest now! The only thing is the peer counselor named Justin - he pressured me into picking up cigarettes again by repeatedly asking me if needed a cigarette, he did get yelled at by one of the counselors for it though but still it was wrong, but thank the stars for my strong will and determination and self respect because I completed that program flawlessly! Thank you Camillus House!

Now I have hoodies, but less hair than I did then. Yul Brynner played the gunslinger in Westworld, and he’s on your trail. You must throw acid in his face to stop him. Sunday eventide comes, dying glow of our star in the west as we cruise the Milky Way, Venus following it, the mighty Jupiter riding his chariot high in the sky, moon librating to razor her Sea of Crises. The sun is going down, its light glowing on a Wyoming Range now free of snow in summer. At 55 I’m tired, yearning to climb out of my body to meet the eternal present. Those nearly two billion SI seconds were counted 86400 per day as the pendulum on Granny’s tabletop clock swung back and forth and the chime rang whenever the minute hand became vertical. Three seconds is a long time in physics. Nearly half a sample of Lawrencium-258 will decay with the release of a deadly but short-range alpha particle in that interval. So Venus was coming up before the dawn on that morning in Houston when I’d been teen young and living rough in a parking garage. Robert came and talked to me. Unable to remember what he said, nevertheless I believe he was an angel. I wonder if he’s still alive; he would be ≈70 today. Steely Dan once sang, “While the poor people sleeping, all the stars come out at night.” Or, they did. Soon, they will no longer, for me. Just that concrete I’d slept on so many retirings it had an oil slick from my back smeared over it, in the time when a filthy sleeveless undershirt was the only garment I had up top. Google Earth indicates this car home still stands on Portsmouth Street off Wesleyan. What’s really going on is I’m in a spacesuit walking this rocky moon of my sun, continuation until the portable life support system fails and I can’t breathe anymore. All blessings, including the suit, were from God. Brynner died of lung cancer in 1985.

While indeed a signal of nonaggression, several kinds of smile are extant, some less benevolent than others, say the smile of dismissal when a person will not help you. Yet the smile comes involuntarily, controlled by neurons which operate outside consciousness and upon receipt interpreted by other neurons in the brain’s temporal lobe so as to produce the signal’s meaning. With such expressive faces, human beings are good at this after 2 million years.

don't get this at all...throughout my life I've asked Jesus for His help and Blessings on many occasions....I've got down on my knees and begged for Jesus to come into my life...I asked daily for months on end....his broadband connection must have been down (and is still non functional) for He has never shown me any form of help love guidance or even the way to a cup of cold coffee.....zilch, na-da. Nowadays, after asking begging and beseeching His help love and guidance I don't bother with Him at all. These people who say He did this and He did that are clearly mentally unstable. There's nothing there folks....it's all in the mind.

Felix s I'm so sorry and I understand! I've been asking for years. But lately the pain of my life circumstances are so unbearable. The burden is so heavy. My heart is truly humbled. I'm beginning to feel remorse for my past wrongdoings. I ache for my unsaved disfunctuonal Narcissistic family. The Holy Spirit is not present in us! I'm praying HARD! Today I'm going to hold you in prayer. Please pray with me today. Pray for me also! I know for some people it isn't an instant trasnformtion. I'm not sure but believe there are curses on my life! Curses on my family. Together and with others having the same experience, let us all pray for one another. May the Lord bless us!

Camillus House labels the homeless as alcoholics and throws them out to the streets if they drink a beer responsibly, but at Camillus House's fundraisers, where its program clients are forbidden, the alcohol flows like rivers where Camillus House's donors are liquored-up in order to con them out of as much money as they can.
