Thank you for the video. Recently passed an assessment centre and got a job. Some of the advices are really good, such as to not focus too much on the group task itself. The final advice, however, "send a thank you email after the assessment centre" is debatable - not everywhere it is a good thing and will be viewed positively. Instead, imho, it is just better to thank people you talked with before you exit the call.

There are 27,000 universities in the world. This year Leeds University is ranked at 86 the QS international tables which brings it within the top one third of one percent of world universities.. It is of course a Russell group university. The top 100 employers in the UK (ie The High Flyers' report which is viewable online) ) publish an annual ranking of the 20 universities whose graduates they favour most. In the real world this counts for quite a lot more than the often baffling and sometimes downright bizarre national rankings that appear in publications like the Times and the Guardian (Lancaster and Loughborough universities were consistently placed as top ten universities in the Times national rankings???!!! You have got to be kidding!!!). For 2022 the High Flyers' list places Leeds at number 5. Cambridge is ranked at number 7 and Oxford is ranked at number 10. Leeds is the wealthiest city in the north of England with upmarket shops, restaurants and cafes. The university has an embracing and safe feeling campus 10 minutes walk from the thriving city centre. On and around the campus there is some lovely architecture and a buzzing social scene. Of the UK's 120 universities Leeds falls consistently within the top three for the number of applicants. With an impressive international standing for the quality of its research and a first rate social scene Leeds will always be a serious choice for a great many academically gifted undergraduates and postgraduates. This was so helpful, thank you for such great video! I'm thinking of studying at Leeds next year and wanted ask your advice with regards to how 'introvert' friendly the university is ? I don't really like clubbing / drinking and worry that will mean I struggle to make friends/meet people? are there other things to do during freshers for people who prefer more relaxed scenes like cinema nights/day events? would really appreciate your advice as im so scared about making friends as international student so far from home!

@@meryemedaghija8842 I applied for Heineken Local Trainee. The assessment center took 1 full day. They formed me in a group of 5 and let us solve business case study and give a 10 minutes presentation at the end. The purpose of case study just want to see our abilities of solving problems, work in the team (pls make sure u avoid team conflict) and our time management. During the business case there’s always an unexpected interruption of new problem so they want to see whether we’re flexible or not. And yes just like she said in the video, the result of your case study is not important as much as how you can work in a team. Be a team player and take the initiative to speak but not interrupt your teammate when they are speaking.

There is a lot of diversity at Leeds. It may not be one of the most diverse uni's, but it definetly is diverse. I feel like you'd get the best perspective by visiting.

is the group task technical?
@CharlotteMGray3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the grad role you’re going for. But all the ones I’ve had haven’t been majorly technical. The people assessing you tend to focus more on how you work as a team than the outcome of the task anyway so I wouldn’t worry too much about the technicality of it. Hope that helps!

One thing: during the presentation, do you need to make PowerPoint and share your screen? If so, do you get enough time?
@CharlotteMGray3 жыл бұрын
Yes we had to make a presentation. I'd recommend doing it on Google Slides so everyone on your team can work on it at the same time. And yes time is an issue, I'd recommend instead of planning first and then doing the presentation try and do both at the same time as otherwise you'll quickly run out of time (which happened to us and we had to rush at the end). Hope that helps!
@prothomachowdhury67213 жыл бұрын
@@CharlotteMGray Thank you so much for the reply ❤️ One more thing, while pitching as a group which part do you think is the best to present like intro, body or conclusion.
@CharlotteMGray3 жыл бұрын
@@prothomachowdhury6721 I don't think it really matters. The actual presentation doesn't matter as much as how you worked as a team to put the presentation together. I'd say the only thing that matters in relation to the presentation itself are your presentation skills rather than what you're actually saying.

I'm studying at Leeds in September and this was so helpful, thank you so much for sharing!! I'm in the process of applying for accommodation and I was just wondering how you found it being slightly further away from campus! Like do you think it affected your experience in anyway!? <33
@CharlotteMGray3 жыл бұрын
Hey Hollie! Congrats on being accepted to Leeds! No, being slightly further out from campus didn’t impact my experience at all! Some of the most ‘fun’ halls tend to be off campus (Devonshire, James Baillie). There are a couple accommodations that are considerably further out though and not as well situated (Lupton, Liberty dock) and then again you’ve got your on campus ones that tend to be more expensive. But again really depends on preference and what you value more (social side, on campus, own bathroom, price etc). Hope that helped! If you have any other questions let me know either on here or on insta x
