Nuclear Winter was fun while it lasted. You could build mini-structures in certain places to protect yourself. One time my team sheltered in the Flatwoods funeral home, blocked the entranceway with portapotties and shot anyone who came close as the ring closed in.

Oh boy, Outcast and Remnants. I have to say that... yeah, this Mod sucks and absolutely butchers the Story of Lyons and the Brotherhood in FO3. Not only that, but it (alongside any Thuggyverse Mod really) needlessly tries to paint Preston as a bad Guy, even though he has allways been about Justice and other Minutemen Ideals.
@MrHolodocАй бұрын
Christ, the mere Idea of the Lyons Outcasts supporting/giving Money to the Natick Raiders is ridiculous. The canonical Version of Sarah and Owen Lyons would be spinning in their Graves if they saw that loyal Lyon Soldiers giving Money to Raiders! They'd rather loose a couple Soldiers and Pieces of Power Armor than cooperate with Raiders since... thats exactly what they did in the Pit. Because, you know, they'd rather protect the Innocents and get wounded than just ignore the suffering Raiders and let them continue their Reign of pure Terror!
@MrHolodocАй бұрын
Oh my Lord, it gets even worse. Which seems impossible, but... they even butcher the whole Character of Preston Garvey. Christ, I'm certain they made him the "Secret Enclave Spy" simply because of their dislike of Radiant Quests.

A) Call them Brotherhood of STEAL - they might wear steel armor, but they are essentially (except the Lion's BoS - sadly gone because of Wanne-Be-Elder Maxson, that spoiled human purity Nazi-Manchild, who probably had Sara Lyons murdered (or at least profited from it!)) high tech raiders (at least in FNV - people talk about them attacking people because someone had a laser-pistol!) B) ED-E is the first you can get (if you have the repair-skill or the right items to fix him!) and frankly I love ED-E (especially with the Followers Upgrade! Woosh! Woosh! Woosh Woosh Woosh! (And most likely the enemy dies here!)) if you follow the "recommended" path (the quest lead you to Primm after all)

59:30 those chemicals that are inside acorns (some species, not all) and will make you ill, are called tannins! They're used by the trees for bug repelling, normally (so that the seeds don't get eaten by worms and stuff like that). Another fun-fact is, that if you save the water after boiling the crushed acorns (which should be boiled two-three times, until the bitterness goes away), and then you boil down the water full of tannins (so that it's more concentrated), you have a solution capable of tanning leather! Buckskin, if I remember correctly. This method is called "vegetable tanning".

I've completed this questline twice and it was definitely a drag the second time. The first time was on my main character back when quests like this were about all you had in 76. I thought it was interesting because I was still exploring the map at the time (which admittedly took me forever because I'm dumb and was severely over-encumbered for like a year and a half so had to walk everywhere), so everything I did for the quest was new and interesting. The second time I did it it was far less interesting, and I skimmed half the computer entries only because it had been years since I last read them. It's also sad to say that, even back at launch, the reward items suck from this quest line with the exception of the mask. I definitely agree with people saying that Bethesda should really take a second look at some of the quests from launch and maybe rework them and their rewards a bit to better fit the current state of 76. They won't because Bethesda, but it's nice to imagine having a good reason to play through some of these quests again with a new character for a reason other than "I physically have to in order to get/do X thing."

This quest line, like many others, got "streamlined" when Wastelanders hit. And, just like the Fire Breathers, they made it quicker w/o considering if some of the challenges were interesting. I feel it was nerfed to to heck and back. Like all of the original rewards, these quest rewards need an update. Just small tweaks like making the Voice of Set accept .44 Mag mods would make it MUCH more useful to a leveling character. As for the story itself, it's the most "Fallout" story in the game. I have a problem with the Skyline Dr quests because my main doesn't want to be a goon for this obvious fascist a-hat. "Count on me, Boss," sounds like a goon from a dime store novel. I've been told there is a way to show a little spine and balk at killing someone just because some rich dude wants her dead, but you have to find a particular object before that part of the quest, and it's in an area only open for a short time. BS galore. I understand that Bethesda is kinda mid about multi-linear storytelling, but this is feeling like Nuka World. At least there was an option in that. I started to do Skyline on an alt, but between a game jam and Life, I got distracted and have had no desire to return to it. Think it might be time to put 76 aside for a bit. It's always done best for me when I take breaks.

Sadly this is probably the best quest line from the time before they added NPCs to the game. Which really says something about just how bad *everything* about this game was on launch. The writing is decent and the story is emotional, but getting anything out of it requires you to read dozens of terminal entries and listen to dozens of holotape recordings and that's not something almost anybody wants to do. And then the reward for all of it is unusably weak weapons, a slightly better stealth boy, and unusably weak armor. I would have loved to just have a clean version of the outfit you get from the dead mistress in training or even the full poofy ruffled version if only they were apparel that changes your appearance instead of armor with trash stats.

Mike playing Fallout 76 is a great example of the idiom: "If you expect a good time, you'll have a good time. If you expect disappointment, you'll be disappointed". Mike has returned to playing 76 after having a disappointing time 3 years ago, but he's still expecting it to be that same terrible game it was 3 years ago. He focuses on all the bugs and issues, and ignores all the good it has become. And outright AVOIDS interacting with the BEST part of this game... the multi-player aspect, the community... I really enjoy Mike's content, and I REALLY want him to enjoy this game, but it seems he's just unable or unwilling to have a good time in it

I mean the dude gave as fair a shake at it as he could I think. I love Fallout 76 but I recognize I'm a very specific type of Fallout fan. I actually love reading the notes and terminal entries, learning about the greater Fallout universe, I enjoy hearing Fallout's commentaries on the ills of Society(tm), its critiques of capitalism, jingoism, paranoia, and humanity as a whole. Fallout 76 has all of this in spades, even when Bethesda's A team shies away from even encroaching on controversial territory, but drops the ball in a *great* many other areas. Oddly enough I feel like the quality of the game's writing has gotten weaker since the introduction of NPC's. The stories the player takes an active role in just aren't as interesting and in some cases actually annoying as is the case with the Atlantic City family. Meanwhile the vanilla game's story of tracking your Overseer while piecing together the wreckage of Appalachia was honestly a really uniquely captivating experience for Fallout, again only for a specific subset of the fandom though. I wouldn't dare compare it to 'Return of the Obra Dinn' but it very much is in that same vein of the player showing up after the party and being left to sort through history, though to reiterate, that kind of story telling format is only going to appeal to a specific demographic. Then there's all the pitfalls of it being an online multiplayer service. Latency, gear 'balancing', grinding, etc. all serve to erect barriers between players and enjoyment Fallout 76 is a good game _for some people_ . It's not because they didn't try hard enough that some Fallout fans won't like it, it simply won't click for everyone and that's totally fine.
@mikeburnfire23 ай бұрын
I was honestly hoping that I'd be able to enjoy the good parts of this game, despite my previous misgiving with it. I was expected the new, story-driven content to be more enjoyable. But at the end of the day, Fallout 76 still has a lot of glaring issues that are impossible for me to ignore. And as much as I enjoy the Fallout 76 community, I'm getting pretty damn tired of being told that if I don't like the game, it's *my* fault because I'm playing it wrong.
@forsaken_king273 ай бұрын
@@mikeburnfire2 fair enough, and ya Fallout 76 has some severe issues. I think some of the criticisms you've gotten is out of defensiveness because of how crapped on 76 and its fanbase gets from other fallout fans, even I'm guilty of being defensive.
