So you took out a gun you had never fired before or sighted in to protect your life?

Any single action revolver with a transfer bar or a safety notch is safe to carry 6 rounds. The safety notch is drop safe and has been tested to hold out for 100s of lbs of force. You would have to drop it 15 ft onto concrete or asphalt in order to fail the safety notch system.

Looking at the video ,you are both finding the target faster with the peep site on the marlin. I do have and like the Henry-45-70 a bit better wood stock every time.

Build quality is better in the ruger uberti is better than it used to be . I recently compared the two.

I'm glad u didn't have to kill that grizz. we've had to sneak around for years to feed the bears of yellowstone. grizz know's how to get his food without ranger finding out... A Grizz is an only thing that can hunt with a heart like Arctic Ice and do it above 11,000 feet , the army don't sing "Range, What u got" for nothing.

I managed to get an old Ruger Vaquero .357 Mag (1997 I think is the date) for $750 at a pawn shop after taxes and fees earlier this year. Case coloring is still mostly intact. Son is big into the Old West and we have people still doing the Six Gun Territory gun fights, albeit more around Florida than in one spot. Wife is now interested in doing some theatrical gun play. I also have a Henry 1860 that shoots 45 Colt and a 1911A1. I had two choices. Either get a Ruger Vaquero in stainless steel with 45 Colt/45 Auto for $1,000, or get a Uberti Cattleman New Model, case colored, shooting the same 45 Colt/45 Auto combo, for $700. My wife and my wallet thanked me for choosing the "prettier looking gun."

Good choice for a saddle rifle. The 4570 is a good cartridge. But I want to tell you what’s way better the 450 Marlin. You can buy it in a lighter rifle. Get it in a Winchester model 94 is way lighter than the Henry’s and Marlins. Mine has a 20 inch barrel and it also a takedown rifle. He can be broken dow n. it has rifle sites and same weight as our Winchester model 94 and 3030 but it has way more killing power the 450 Marlin cartridge is a awesome cartridge. Everything I ever shot just dropped. Maybe people can’t handle the rec it has a little more than most people can take. A man can handle it. If you can’t and there’s something wrong. It has more killing power than 4570 almost as much as a 458 win Magnum. I believe it’ll kill anything on the planet with the right bullets in it. The only thing bad about it is they don’t seem to be making cartridges for it anymore. I have to reload my own. I haven’t seen it in the stores for three years. I don’t know what’s the matter with people they keep inventing more and keep up with the ones they have, you can call scout rifle also mine has quick detachable rings. You can get see-through rings and have it both. Nobody ever talks about it.

Scheels in Johnstown is right next to where my grandpa lives and I go there every time I visit. Looked at a Henry 45-70 but I really want a ruger Marlin. The bass pro in Nashville is ok. I live in Nashville and go there from time to time.

Being a 74 year old Male and having been around farming, hunting and fishing my entire life, years ago my Dad bought a used Marlin 45-70 that I inherited when he died, I eventually had the barrel shortened and put the larger lever action on it. When I bought a home in Alaska I bought the stainless version of the same gun. I bought the Ruger 77 in the 338 Winchester Magnum which are my Alaskan rifles. I’ve had a Blessed Life and have raised 5 children and they all have Thanked Me for their early lives.
