This was incredibly well laid out and articulated by both of you. I like how you both navigated the nuance and honesty of this topic especially within yourselves. I especially appreciate that you acknowledged often times this doesn't happen dishonestly, but rather feelings just develop with a friend and you're like "oh shit, now what do I do about this?" Your answer to essentially just being honest with the other before the feelings fester and being mature about the whole thing whether you're the one with or without the feelings is a great way to go about the whole thing. I'm very impressed that you were open as well about the reality that a lot of it comes down to shallow attraction. If we find someone physically attractive as well as being their friend and they want to form a romantic/sexual relationship, we'll be more open to it for sure and if nothing else, at least take it as a compliment. I think we have a big problem with men and women (speaking heteronormatively here) not knowing how to communicate their interest (or lack thereof) in a way the other understands. The point you made about women just generally being more attractive is so real too. I think men especially need to learn how to be more attractive, communicate their intentions while respecting boundaries, and take rejection gracefully. I love that you two made sure to address the feelings both parties could have in these situations and didn't paint one or the other as "the bad person" People aren't bad for developing feelings for someone they once viewed as a friend, and they're not bad for not reciprocating those feelings either. Relationships are complicated but I very much appreciate how you didn't moralize the issue. You just spoke about it as is and were very adult about it to yourselves, each other, and the audience as a whole. If this is any indication for the level of nuance and discussion you two have in your podcasts I'm definitely glad this vid came across my suggestions and am 100% subscribing. We need more voices like you two. Keep it up!

Anyone who says “i’ve seen you before or I’ve met you” is flirting. It’s a lame opening line, but it’s an excuse to keeping a conversation going. They are hopeful you will try to figure out where it could possibly be…

Alexis, that man was flirting. But not completely "shooting his shot", just putting out a little interest (bait) to see if you'd match his energy. Lots of men won't flirt overtly without some assurance that there's mutual interest. That way they avoid some rejection.

This was amazing. I’m just older than all of you but I really enjoyed the gen X perspective on this topic. It’s really interesting comparing my younger years and how we rolled to what’s going on with the youth of today. As an adult I believe that it’s very possible to have platonic relationships with the opposite sex. I have a whole deeper theory that I subscribe to that suggests that we are both sexes anyway so I just enjoy relating to the souls where the sex of the person doesn’t matter. Enjoyed this episode. Keep up the good work

You both did an incredible job breaking down such an important topic! I appreciated how you not only called out the lack of representation but also tackled the issue of stereotyping when diverse characters do make it on screen. It’s refreshing to hear a thoughtful conversation like this, and I love how you both approached it with depth and passion. Keep up the amazing work-looking forward to more episodes like this!

Truly refreshing to hear see young people so engaged. The struggles your generation faces are massive. And the seeds were planted generations ago. The reasons that the institutional power is aligned to the detriment of young people is because previous generations arranged it that way in ways that are far too numerous to get into and for motivations that are far too frustrating and tragic to parse out in a KZbin comment. The Judicial system, congress, corporatism/capitalism, etc. all of things have problems that are poised to make our lives much worse. But take it from an old millenial, WE NEED Y'ALL. We need your help to fix this and if we do band together WE CAN FIX IT. The power is well within our grasp. It never all gets solved in one election cycle, you have to KEEP SHOWING UP. But we're at a pivitol time, like you said, between "going back" and looking to the future. We can win and the means are simple. All we have to do is vote! Millenials and Gen Z are almost HALF THE ELECTORATE THIS YEAR. By 2028 our generations will be the MAJORITY of the electorate. This moment in time is a springboard into the future if we just sieze the opportunity. Please keep doing what you're doing.

At your age? How old are you? If you are in your mid 20's you should be thinking intensely. Dont let feminism lie to you about the reality that we as women have a limited amount of time for kids and marriage. Everyone pretends they are the special one who will get married and have kids in their 40's but this is anecdotal evidence. You are not the exception to the rule generally, you are the rule. By 25 you should be seeking a long-term relationship which should end with kids.
@zaritcor16688 ай бұрын
Trust me, this is nothing new. I'm 40 years old and grew up only ever dating a few women in my life, because, as you said, i was dating to find a life long partner. While many others including friends seemed to have a new partner every other month. Unfortunately, even when i thought i finally found the one, turns out it was all smoke and mirrors. Although i will say the youth today (former teacher so I've heard things) can't even call what they do "dating" again like you said they're "experiences".
@SunandStarlightASMR8 ай бұрын
I completely agree, I believe our generation has also ruined dating as a whole. We have confused dating and being exclusive with someone as interchangeable. Dating is meant to be exploring your options and seeing who is right for you. It is perfectly okay to date multiple people at a time. Dating is a romantic meeting exploring one another, not explicitly forming a monogamous relationship
@bott38498 ай бұрын
No thats not true. Its not okay to date a bunch of people. Next time you are on a date with somepne you like i dare you to tell them about the other people you are seeing. Tell them and see how fast they run from you.
@hectorzeroni10888 ай бұрын

@ZariDV8 ай бұрын
That's an easy way to screw yourself over while dating. It's also the perfect way to get yourself ditched by potential partners who are actually serious about finding someone. People are generally bad at vetting one person at a time. I can't imagine trying to properly vet several people at once, keeping their lives and stories straight, and actually building a bond with them while dividing my attention with a bunch of other people who I'm actively trying to learn new things about.
