very good document history. I wonder why australian television dont educate australians programes like this about australia? Many countries in europe they show a lot of history of thier own country and towns and they always have done that for years and years to educate the locals and to let them learn the history. if brisbane ever did shows and programes like this on the local channel they teach locals and people of brisbane the history of suburbs and everything. Last time i ask someone whos an australian and i ask you remember World Expo 88 ? and the reaction was they dont no nothing about it nor they dont no what it is.. this is how you can see many australians are not very educated about the truth of australia and your suburbs and cities... Maybe the attitutes are kind of like they only knows whats might happen tomorow. BUT THEY DONT NO the past history which is a missing point Again another issue for low educated on australian television. By the way australian television covers 80% everything to do wtih UK and American programing with very little made and to do with made in australia. Think about it!

you make good videos and history documents. But Why brisbane looks so dull ? not many people out there.. oh its because everyones at work? Not really. And you have this beautiful city but just not as intertainment as one wishes to see.. A tourism when they think of Australia they think of Sydney and Melboune. But they dont no where Brisbane is. Maybe because these who visited brisbane didnt last a day or 2 and then they left because stores closes early... restaurants closes early.. very limited restaurants in brisbane and all you find is just same old asian restaurant one place to the same alll recipe place... Its like as if brisbane people go to work and go home after and go to sleep. Thats how brisbane city looks dull.. the suburbs looks dull and no one is in the streets... just cars only street by street and houses.. with a beutiful city and yet its missing so many factors. I cant imagined seen Brisbane hosting the Olympic games properly. They has since 1988 to make a speedy recovery of brisbane which they did... but its still missing elements... the people.... the free entertainments..... and when theres a event its just the brisbane river fire and your standing there like a zombie just waiting to see the fireworks because theres nothing eles to do on the city streets.. ah they so afraid to block streets for the whole entertainments. It reminds me lime the British people been shallow and not very outdoor socials with anyone not even care to speak to a stranger just because he or she is a stranger and you feel wow so awkward. Europeans are more open.. regardless your a stranger or standing alone.. you become friends with anyone fast.... this is how British and australians are your doing your own thing and you go home. Europeans are more get out and have fun out there with people love to socialist.. and to see things rather then seen a closed placed. Im not going to lie. Ive chatted with a few local Brisbane youtubers streamers just like you about this right now... and some of them agree with me that brisbane seriously has a odd lifestyle attitute... and it becomes old and boring and its why many people prefer to travel overseas else where to see the fun side of things. By the way you should socialise with other local brisbane youtubers.. you do good videos. But most of them might not do history videos and they might be doing walking videos or something else all together. Which ever way the case may be. Like i said you have a beautiful city. But its missing many things. Tourism very low.... Sydney drives fast. Brisbaner shuts things early restaurants and even cinemas and malls. Do you expect a tourism to stay in the hotel room and admire the window view and waste all that money by not able to see much else to do other then pretty views ? think about it. Like i said. I cant imagined the Olympic games to be made in brisbane... brisbane is still like stuck in the early 80s in the 2024's. hmmm its all to do with peoples attitudes and how they work for a state like this.. What do you have to say about this?

There are definately still burial sites at Lang Park. The only ones that were removed by the UQ archaeologists in 2001 were where the new development of the stadium was built - mainly on the Eastern side of the stadium. It was a salvage dig only. There is also a piped creek down the centre of the field that comes out into the Brisbane River - after rainfalls you can see the water gushing out into the river.

Really interesting, and adds colour to the family history. One day I will write it down, whether it’s ever read is another thing! RIP Kate Spilsbury who was exhumed from the Baptist portion to Toowong.

No wonder Aussies are known for racism. Most liked comments are wildly racist. If you are really that interested in history, why not look at how long China was the most powerful country in history, and how its voyages to Southeast Asia and Africa were merely friendly cultural exchanges (compared to white people’s voyages purpose). Take a look at how the Eight-nations alliance, composed of white people, sold opium to China and then plundered China’s wealth and land. The wealth of white people is built on bloody plunder, including the land of Australia. You shamelessly write those racist words above; have you ever consider the thoughts of the indigenous people? You are still the same bloody animals from 200 years ago; your nature has not changed at all.

My first job working for Brisbane City Council at Toowong Cemetary was painting this church, the Sexton at the time gave myself and Don the job of painting the church as it took a few months to finish the job, the paint was supplied by the church we did it with ladders and a trestle, what you have said in your video is what i was told while painting the church, i was told a few bodies or remains were buried at the church not sure if this is correct as it was in early 70's when i was there and pleased to see the headstones are still there as the grounds are now smaller than i remember. I was employed as a Grave Digger at Toowong Cemetary i also worked at Lutwyche, Dutton Park or South Brisbane Cemetary, also dug graves at Nundah Cemetary.

Interesting chat. As always thanks for taking the time to put it all together. There may be some future stories from historic cemeteries about the place, Bald Hills/Bracken Ridge, Nundah and no doubt others looking back at the early settlers and settlement of these places.

I grew up not far from Lang Park, had interschool sports days there, tennis round the corner, school books, ice & swimming across the road, as was my kindy and the boot factory. It might have been not much known about elsewhere but us kids from Paddington, Milton, Bardon, Red Hill, The Gap etc knew the story of the grave yard & the many generations on rather non pc stories and jokes (goats came into a few of them...) Enjoyed seeing what some of the quieter corners look like now.

@@walkaboutwithrob Sure. Just my own opinion I think it could help your followers when choosing where not to live. Like I would google all the landfills and mark them so I would avoid buying a house near those spots as I am interstate willing to move to SEQ. But I don’t know how to dig out the old landfills/contaminated sites. Some ppl still care about that kind of information🤓

@@Qldsea Yes, I'm sure many people still care about this kind of information. It is important for sure to be aware of what's in the ground under our homes. But like I said it's not something I would be interested in pursuing. Perhaps a channel that is focused on real estate or housing developments might be interested in such a topic.

@Ben-vr5wd The purpose of the video was not to cover every single display of the museum. It was instead to look at the big picture and try to understand whether the museum is still relevant and keeping up with the times. Including, or not including the tank, would make no difference to the theme or purpose of the show.
