After having ballet training, Paul Taylor's choreography is absurd. It has no balance, poor line, pedestrian movements, no consistent technique. It's pretentious "modern-ness" to classical music, as if that makes it legitimate. It's pure pap, pop culture, so his great achievement was Disney Dance, Snow White.

It's horrible that the great Martha Graham Company struggled to survive while his company became the most popular. Junk dance for college graduates. Kind of like Merce Cunningham and a lot of Twyla Tharp.

Every director has his own taste of course. BUT, if I visualize the 90s RB principals and simultaneously look at these two principals my face scrunches up a little.....

In 1988…Kris World was a student of Judith Jamison and was discovered in Kris Worlds rehearsal by Judith Jamison…and was asked by Judith Jamison to transfer her work “Read Matthew 11:28” from a student work at Jacobs Pillow to The Jamison Project. Judith Jamison was featured in this piece at the Joyce Theater Debut and also in the transition from The Jamison Project to The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater where she danced in Read Mathew again… The dance was choreographed by Kris World and performed for the first time at Jacobs Pillow by Members of the AAADT at the opening gala of Jacobs Pillow that summer of 1988. I hope this important history segment is never forgotten at The Pillow…my name is Kris World and my life was changed forever by Judith Jamison that summer. My work is in the Jerome Robinson Achives at the Lincoln Center Library In mid Manhattan…Read Mathew 11:28…it all began at Jacobs Pillow 1988. Don’t leave me out of the legacy. Choreographer/Dancer Kris World..I went on to become a Juilliard graduate, and I had landed at Jacobs Pillow after touring with Stevie Wonder in 1988.

The blanket dance looks like something African American would make up, it don't have the feel of Native Americans at all.
