wow, I cant imagine having to play and do a marching routine at the same time. Lots of practice and skill on display, to me it looked and sounded flawless.

In my younger years I was part of a precision silent drill team. You cannot imagine the number of hours of practice we had to go through. Every movement is calculated and you have to mentally remember the sequence. Every time I see them it always amaise me and bring me back. Fantastic job. Bravo from a former brother. 11:18

Ross Andrews, Susan Brokman and I were the first composers of that work on the first one valve bugle that I designed and wrote tons of music for. It's an honor hearing it still being played. One time where I actually did make a difference.

THE DUDE WHO DROPPED HIS RIFLE! I feel so bad for him, but then the drum major brings him a new one AND PATS HIM OF THE SHOULDER! Is that a procedure they have or was he just fucking with him with the pointing and lifting the chin?
@pluushynor3 ай бұрын
Funny story actually. I was in this drill team, and I actually am the guy who dropped his rifle. It's not a drum major, but a part of the drill team. We always have one of the reserves with a rifle ready incase a mishap happens. If someone drops their rifle, the show goes on until the current drill is over. The drum major always checks the reserves stance to see if the reserve wants to replace something before starting the next piece. At 7:10, you can see our reserve standing to the left of the frame, and at 7:25 you see our reserve coming into frame again. Now his stance is shifted as he spotted the rifle and now wants to fix this before our next drill. However, in this case you can hear the drum major want to start the next piece anyway. Our sergeant intervenes and yells "VENT!", which means wait. The show is then temporarily paused while the reserve brings out a spare rifle and picks up the lost rifle so that the show can continue properly. The finger, head drop, and pat is a part of the act to make some fun out of it. I come back to this drill in specific sometimes to reminisce about the good times, as this was the one time during the whole 1 year service I dropped my rifle in a drill. Unfortunately, the spacing was a little too tight on the member to my right as we spun around, and my rifle hit his elbow during the rifle-spin and therefore lost grip. We're of course taught to play it off and wait until we can get the reserves rifle during a pause. Fun to see a comment about myself so many years later. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know^^
