Can the plate created be subsequently electroplated for a thicker coating? Also, can the item be masked somehow first to create additional effects?

Hello, yes, you can use the silver to create a conductive surface for electroplating. You can either mask off an area or you can selectively remove an area. We have videos that show that process as well.

Can we reuse the tin and silver for others after gilding one piece? ex, after tinning object 1, use the poured out tin for object 2. Can we also do that for silver once it is mixed and recently used as well? Or does everything have to be fresh per piece? Also where do we get distilled water? Like bottled distilled water in groceries?
@AngelGildingcom
@AngelGildingcom Ай бұрын
Hi, the goal is to have virtually all of the Tin or Silver come out of solution and deposit on the piece so you cannot reuse the chemicals. They would most likely be waaaay too diluted on a second pass as so much was deposited on the first piece. I hope this helps!

@AngelGildingcom
@AngelGildingcom 2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for asking. The first question when considering re-silvering is does the glass itself has a specific value that would make re-silvering a better option than replacing the piece. Is the glass antique and interesting? Does it have sentimental value? If so, re-silvering is a good option. For large pieces, spray silvering is usually better. I want to re-condition some of the plastic frame around my shower enclosure where the water has made the metallic finish go green. I'm finding it hard to get replacement parts.
