Nice! Although on Manteca I was expecting more punch from the horns. Mix was clean though. Sis on the congas was churning… some real tasty patterns going on underneath. Seriously brining that work!

For various reasons, I woke up this morning and I wasn’t smiling. Some folks wake up needing coffee, nicotine and other starters. I cannot start my day without Jazz. I started this morning with this concert. Renee Marie is master of sound, words and sonic experience and expression. Christian McBrides, program Jazz Night in America on WBGO hosted an interview with her. She has an amazing life story of triumph and accomplishment that ran concurrent and within to her journey in becoming an accomplished musician and premier jazz vocalist. My favorite song she sings is her remake of Leonard Cohen’s Suzanne. Vocally, she brings a palette of sonic imagery in her remake of this song that I believe is arguably the best rendition of the song beyond its original interpretation. Her interpretation of the song reminds me of Isaac Hayes remake of the song By The Time I Get to Phoenix from his classic and iconic album Hot buttered Soul. Rene Marie is an amazing Jazz vocalist and sonic storyteller in her music artistry.

23.05.2024. BAZZUM JAZZ FESTIVAL, UZICE, SERBIA Dane Alderson makes love with his guitar... He presents superb technical skill and a masterful interpretation of the artist. A live concert cannot be compared to electricity. A musician has a soul and is not a machine, so he will always be at an advantage. Fantastic! Thanks guys! Greetings from Užice, Serbia.

"When Twilight is upon us" is the most memorable Childs recording. Unfortunately, swing and blues( true marks of jazz!) has been kicked to the side of the road as most of today's jazz has NONE! Too many composer's originals and it becomes more unfamilar and challenging for the audience to appreciate. Less thru composed and more raw improv would be great!
