Sorry to hear about your father. My mother passed in July and I still call her cell phone to hear her voice. Meanwhile, the last couple of weeks have been terrible for me as far as sales. I am a part timer doing this but I was getting 2-3 sales a day average. The last 2 weeks I am lucky if I see one sale a day. I dropped my whole store by 10-15% and still nothing.

Is there a direct number to speak to an ebay rep for sellers? Lately when I call regardless of what option I choose, the machine just says it will send a link to online ebay articles about my issue. How do I get to speak to a person?

I’m not sure. I’ve never called. I only use chat because I know I get the transcript which I can rely on later if I have issues (I’ve used it a few times to prove what eBay reps have said to me)

No Mercari here in Aus and poshmark closed down last year. A few other platforms but the reach isn’t as good as eBay.

Ebay can be extremely frustrating! You just need to keep being persistent, like you did, to get your money back. But i hope you reported the seller! That's about all you can do!

International returns are so hard to deal with. Sucks that even though we describe items properly people can still open inads in these type of cases. Common sense seems to be very uncommon in some of the eBay decisions unfortunately.

I had a buyer report that the item purchase was not received by them so I refunded immediately as I can't be bothered wasting my time dealing with issues, only to received negative feedback days later from the buyer saying that the item packaging was damaged!!!!! There are crazy people out there. Reported buyer, blocked buyer and did end up getting refunded by eBay.

Im happy to share. Yes it was in Banyo - it was a special event though so its not on all the time. We all have our special places so like all resellers I'm not going to share all the places I go to. I still need to make money myself! Its about showing whats out there if you look :)

Exactly. I know ebay tell us to report buyers like this but I have no trust in them that they actually do anything about it. Its so heavily skewed to the buyer. Im thankful at least I wasn't out of pocket but also I should not have had to fight that hard! Thankfully it happened back in July so Ive made peace with it!!

I'm casually trying out reselling having a bit of fun with it etc. Very frustrating hearing stories like this. Also is there no real competition for ebay? Noother selling sites? I know there's fb market place but just feels like Ebay needs a bloody run for their money and some healthy competition. Maybe that'll force them to treat sellers better. But like I said I'm new to all this.😅

Just curious, did you not use ebay's international shipping option? From what I understand, if you did, they take care of everything...once it is in their hands it is in their court. I have't had any international sales in a long time, maybe several months and had no international NAD's either but I understand that if its Global its on them...why it costs so much more to ship with them.

I dont think thats the case in Australia. There is no ability for ebay to do international labels for returns. I dont use ebay for postage. Ive integrated my ebay into my Australian Post Business account and I do my postage through there.

100% there trying to get items for free! we were just talking about this the other day. A refund should not be given until the item is returned to the seller to inspect. So many sellers have been screwed by buyers sending back broken and not the same item!! and now its seems fake postage labels which is fraud. Ebay needs to put a policy in place to also protect sellers from this.

I'm discovering that everything is automated too much. Ebay, insurance companies, the IRS all have support that just reads off a script, or tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone. They are all 'pretend' support.

Ive never had ebay make me provide a label in an international sale. How do you know ebay didnt mishandle the shoes when they repacked them??

yep, thats the same with me and all the other sellers i talked to. They dont provide label for international return. These shoes didn't require authentication so they went directly to the buyer.

@livforflips in the US we have ebay international and they handle all the returns and disputes. Usually they refund without using buyer funds. Hindsight, you should have done this video sooner. I would have kicked out a return label for the customer so you could enter that into the system. I could have shipped them to you or did a listing on ebay "selling them back to you" for like $1.

I like chat because its all in writing transcripts. Ive been able to use them against ebay on multiple occasions... In reported them straight away.... not like ebay will actually do anything though!

I always contact ebay through the message system as ebay then sends you a written copy of your conversation for your proof. Ebay doing refunds to sellers I believe is an automatic thing (not done by a person) as I had one like that and I got it reversed and the case closed in my favour and negative comments removed because just like you, ebay promised one thing but then the automatic process did the reverse. I dont blame you for your emotions but I am like a pitball when it comes to making sure ebay does the right thing for me.

Your feelings are valid. It takes awhile not to feel the way you do and there will be others. It is part of it and it's an imperfect system and there are people who will milk the system unfortunately. All you can do is be the outstanding seller you are. Take some time to regroup - you told your story so well... I felt every bit as I have been through similar in my 17 years selling with Ebay. Take care. Dishonesty is rife on ebay. Had a similar issue. Buyer wins in most cases. You"l be smarter for the experience though, keep going.

They do. Definitely a platfrom that regards the buyers experience higher than the sellers. And if i was a dodgy seller with poor feedback, I get it. But 100% positive feedback and a long standing account should come into it, but nope!!

I agree I often think that ebay enables "glorified" shoplifting - so concerned for excellent buyer experiences that they even allow buyers to blatantly steal and scam the platform and worse resellers. It's very frustrating because it also wastes a lot of time and emotional energy. Another issue is the fact that customer service has English as a second language and that frustrates the process when customer service don't always understand what you are asking or trying to explain. It's a shame being in Australia that an Australian-based called centre or chat function is not used by ebay and many other companies.

Its so frustrating. I spent so much time on chat making sure I was 'doing the right thing' by the platform and the buyer and it still ended like this. It really disappointing. I would rather be listing more than dealing with this kind of stuff that should not be happening in the first place!

Sadly yes this can happen. Working with Ebay will resolve the issue and if you are a good account holder with them they will support you, but it can take effort to get there. It is also totally wrong that this buyer has effectively received the shoes and they have cost nothing, as it just encourages them or others again. Also if you have automatic returns in place, it doesn't apply to international which is why the customer has to obtain this. This is what was explained to me, and in a way it protects you from inflating the postage return price. Head forward into Qtr 4. Put it behind you and I hope you have popped them on the blocked list too.

I have had an account for 10+ years and had 100% positive account. eBay definitely dropped the ball here and should have better, more efficient systems for such the big, international platform it is. Very disappointing I had to fight for the right outcome!!

@@livforflips because there really aren’t many big sellers there. The only one really big seller I know of there has like 140k items listed, but other than him I haven’t seen anyone else that’s very big. Here I know of several sellers that have 50k listings, 100k listings and one guy that has over half a million listings. The bins here is crazy. I went once and I’ll never go back because as soon as I walked in a huge fist fight broke out with a group of people over one of the bins and they threw something and split a woman’s face open. I’m not fighting over inventory. The thrift stores here are insanely good. It’s not just Vegas either I know of several areas within 5 hours of me that I can go and come back with at least a few thousand dollars in inventory. I’d never try reselling if I left the USA because if I leave the USA it’ll be to retire.

4 years ago I had a string of scammers one after another on eBay. Every scammer I’ve ever dealt with is from here in the USA. I’ve never had any problems with international buyers, but Americans are just inherently dishonest. eBay has always been a buyer first platform. The only way I’ve been able to get eBay to take my side in any situation is because I’ve gotten to the point where something happens that is not right I go nuclear on eBay until they take my side.
