Finished this dungeon awhile ago and returned to Dark Cloud 2 for the post-game. Never realized how similar this sounds to the Zelmite Mines.

They need to remaster this game or come out with a sequel. I still go back and play this game the graphics aren’t even bad seeing how old this game is.

I enjoyed this game but this song brings back the near-PTSD levels of unmitigated hatred I have for this boss fight. I thought the dumb boss before it where you were clunkily platforming to try and hit it was the final battle. If only! This fight had to one-up it with one of the most appalling battles I've seen in an RPG. Having every character fight the final boss is great in theory unless you're like me and only played 3 or 4 characters because you thought they were cool and the rest sat on the bench, leaving half your party massively underleveled for the fight since the game does not share EXP among benched party members! Imagine having one save file and getting this bullcrap thrown at you without any prior warning that you would need or even benefit from leveling up any party members besides your favorite ones? The game was high-quality enough that I didn't feel paranoid enough to make multiple saves--it earned my trust just to stomp it into the dirt, by which point I was too far in the game to go back to an earlier save. Don't wanna use the lanky robot guy for most of the game? Well too bad, cause you're about to pay dearly for it when it takes him 10-20 minutes just to kill one of the battleship's hands! And that's if your character doesn't die in two hits because you're so under-leveled the boss can just do that to you! Lest we forget how boring the fights with the hands are. You have to do it twice, and each time the ship's grubby little paws don't show you their weakpoint for half the fight, forcing you to sit there doing nothing again and again (sitting there during the FINAL BOSS in an ACTION game mind you). Consider the travesty if you got to the end of Devil May Cry and Virgil erected an impenetrable shield 10 times during the fight where you just had to wait, doing nothing, for a solid 10 second each time. Have you experienced the horror of running out of items and MP only partway through the final boss battle? The sinking feeling of knowing...KNOWING you've lost but you're desperately trying to deal just that little itty bit of chip damage in hopes of progressing to the next phase where your properly-leveled party members actually have a chance of winning? I've restarted this boss fight more than 4 times. Hours of my life. It's not a quick death. I've died in the first couple of phases. I've died in the last couple of phases. I died during the fight RIGHT before the final phase. Heck, I died once during Jasper's final phase, the one with the big freaking sword that's supposed to be really cool! And it isn't cool by the way because by the time you reach it you're exhausted and the last phase music is somehow even less enjoyable than this repetitive slop. Why is the Beast Battleship such an anemic lifeless song for a final boss battle? It's basically a cutscene theme posing as final boss music! But that's not the issue. The Relic's Song is the *real* issue. Can you fathom the pain? I spent hours listening to The Relic's Song. Not 20 minutes, multiple days' worth of play sessions! "SOME PRETTY BRA SERA, SOME PRETTY BRA SERA, SOME PRETTY BRA SERA, SOME PRETTY BRA SERA" I'm getting so heated thinking about it right now! I want to throttle the game developers. I TOLERATED getting lost in the two towers in that one world because I just didn't realize you were supposed to cross over to the other tower midway through your climb up the first and then leave the first tower to do the same from the 2nd tower. Unnecessarily clunky and that was many hours of exploring before I finally caved and used a guide. But there is NO guide that can save you once you've been stuck in this disasterpiece of a fight. If you don't know to prep beforehand, it's too late to recover. Grin and bear it. The dreary music, the artistically appropriate visual ugliness of the ship's boss fights, the unexpected difficulty spike, the retry after retry after retry...it just breaks you down and beats you like a drum. The final boss is the lowlight of the game, the absolute lowest point of the entire experience, a disgrace to the genre, THE worst final boss fight I have ever experienced in my life and hopefully ever will. Rogue Galaxy stands as one of the greatest in my mind, simply by virtue of how great a train-wreck the ending was and how great of an impression it left on my mind. Great in size, like a giant boot forcefully stomping an impression into my psyche that I remember vividly well over a decade later. I remember liking the game...and then I got to the final boss and remember hating the game. Few things have ever done that for me. Never before have I seen a game turnaround in quality so fast from enjoyable to abysmal. This boss is my "Mass Effect 3 original ending causes fans to turn on the entire series" moment. I got no satisfaction from finally beating this boss. I only avoided the pain of quitting and letting it beat me.

As a kid thought it was supposed to he difficult with the other characters 😂. Had no clue it was because my least used party members were severely under leveled. I think the hands took me easily like 20 -25 minutes each hand because those characters barely got used. My hands were super sore by the time finally beat the entire fight….after severel tries.
