Not the best looking part of Wells but I will be relieved when Lidl is open again.

I had to check out you video as the title mentioned Lazy Days and I owned a boat called just that. She was built in 1930 at the yard of Smith & Sons timber merchants & boat builders. So larch planking on oak frame, teak deck 30ft length 7ft beam and fitted with twin Peta engines before Volvo joined the company. She slept five in comfort six at a squeez, had a galley and closed off head, a third of the boat was open at the rear with an enclosed wheelhouse fitted later. The craft made its way to the River Thames via different owners and in the spring of 1940 was collected by Tough's boatyard for the Royal Navy and with Navy crew sailed to Dunkirk, there she spent 3 days lifting troops of the beach to larger craft offshore. After three days then holed at the water line she returned to Blighty with we understand 85 souls onboard. I did try this while alongside at Runnymead and it can be done, though not recommended as the river police came by, but left us after our explanation and a cup of tea. She stayed in RN service based at Chatham, moored at Queensborough carrying out parachute mine patrols of the Thames Estuary. After WWII she went back into private ownership and one young family lived onboard, bearing a son who grew up and became a captain in the Royal Navy. So after all this her name maybe Lazy Days but her life was hectic.

Hey Paul - don’t suppose you got any of the walks from earlier in the show too? I didn’t get a single photo of myself the entire night since Greg was on the side of the stage - hoping you might have some bits I could show friends and family? X

@@alyswilliams9571 he was indeed. The history of the SS Great Britain on Wikipedia tells a fascinating story of the ship. The first part of the filming is in first class compartments. The second part is in steerage. There was a lot of the exhibition that I didn’t have time to film. Certainly worth another trip.

At 1.15 you've filmed the Scott family grave. When we had to put a tarp on the tower roof (someone had pinched the lead) I was on one of the ropes and I stepped back onto that grave. I said a silent sorry, but then I saw the legend on it which read " In memory of Robert Falcon Scott, who on his return from the South Pole was translated into a glorious death" I might not have the words quite right as that's from memory, but my middle name is Scott and Mum always said she'd named me after Scott of the Antarctic. Now what's the chances of that? Thanks for the video 🙂

I have no problem being on my own at Christmas or any other time. As for Christmas it is about the birth of Jesus not gigantic turkeys, hordes of people eating and drinking their heads off, spending money they can't afford and arguing with the mother- in-law/wife/husband over who burnt the bread sauce, forgot to buy the pigs in blankets, gave Aunty Blodwen too much sherry blah blah.
