Also downloaded Bjans trees along with the new REX Atmos and it looks great now. Thanks for the informative video. My system is very aged with no immediate plans to upgrade at the moment. That being said, I recently got hold of lossscalling and what a difference that cheap piece of kit makes to FS2020, my settings have increased to high and ultra with LOD set at 200. Also regarding the Shadow Maps, I set mine to 4096 to sharpen up further the shadows in the cockpit with marginal loss of performance when using lossscalling, on my system LS increases my frames by at least 80% which is a god send for my system. Have a great day.

For years, I played with all of these settings, and while they did buy me a few FPS, but all of them together did not really address the main problem I had, which was the game stuttering a lot. My BIG breakthrough occurred when I realized that the root cause of most of my game issues is that my RAM not servicing the CPU fast enough. I had 5200mhz ram, but one day I discovered that the RAM was only running at 4800mhz. I did not know that I had to go into the BIOS and turn on XMP and then pick an XMP profile. MY RAM also had a clock speed of CL38. I did not know the importance of that number, but the clock speed is how may times the clock has to tick to complete an operation. In other words, CL 38 means that the clock as to tick 38 times. If the RAM had been CL32, then it would take fewer cycles to complete an operation. When I enable the XMP and turned on an XMP profile, the result quite surprising. My frame rate went up a small amount, but the real benefit was that suddenly the number of stutters I was getting in busy or detailed location dropped dramatically! When the 2024 spec came out, I decided to get 64mb or RAM, but this time, I went with a 6000mhz ram with a CL30 clock speed. Once again, the improvement in FPS was small, but this time, flying even in the busiest areas became stutter free! Even when the FPS falls down in the low 30s, rather than have the jerk-jerk-jerk of the days when I was using 4800mhz RAM speed, flight remains very smooth. I won't say there is never a stutter, but I would say that it is rare to see one. My system is a 13900KF, a 4080, 6000mhz CL-30 RAM, and I run 4K. For the first time since playing flight simulators for 20 years, I can say that I am getting a truly wonderful experience. Here is my suggestion to readers. If you use the Debug FPS counter, look at the top graph. If you see an occasional single red spike, then your RAM is keeping up. If though, you see periods where there is a wide spike and you get stutter, my bet is that this is being caused by slow RAM. Next, look at your processor speed in Task Manager. Lets say it is 4800mhz. Now, look at the RAM in Task Manager. Lets say it is 3200mhz. This RAM is too slow for the speed of the processor and that is probably why you are getting stutters. Now, pull a RAM stick out and see what the RAM Speed and clock is. For example if it is 3600mhz, then the RAM is running at 3200mhz because the XMP is probably not enabled on the mother board. To check, boot to BIOS and see if "XMP Enabled" is turned on. If not, then it does not matter how fast the RAM is because it is not using an overclock profile. If it is 3200mhz CL-36 RAM, moving to a 3600mhz CL 32 RAM is probably going to make a big difference! Now besides Enabling XMP, you also have to select an overclock profile. This profile actually comes on the RAM stick and when you Enable XMP, there is likely an "Advanced" option in BIOS where you can select the overclock profile that comes on the RAM stick. This is for Intel, but AMD Stick call it something else, but for Intel, as I understand it, the XMP II profile only adjusts the clock speed. If there is an "Tweaked" profile, this one also might do some changes to some of the clock timing. This is more than I can cover here, but even if you only do the XMP II or XMP 1, the RAM will now be running at the higher speed. I know this is a long post, but I have been chasing all of these settings for years, and all of them together did not result in smooth flight. The putting in faster RAM and turning on the XMP with XMP profile was the solution to all of my problems with MSFS. It as smooth as a movie right down to 30FPS, even at LAX. I can fly literately down the streets of Manhattan in my Harrier and it is as smooth as can be. This is THE change that worked absolute wonders for me. Again, faster RAM does improve frame rate, but only a little. The real benefit of fast RAM is in the smoothness of the game. I hope this is of interest to you or to others, but looking at the top graph in the Debug FPS tool and seeing multiple red spikes ganged together in a red block is a symptom of RAM not servicing the CPU calls for data fast enough. One last point... You can go too fast on RAM for the Motherboard. I did research that suggested that even though I could buy 8000mhz RAM, I would likely not get much benefit from anything faster than 6000mhz if I was not overclocking the CPU, and 66000mhz if I was overclocking the CPU. I do not believe on overclocking the CPU because it is just something to worry about, but the XMP profiles are very safe overclocking because the MFR has put sufficent heat sink on the sticks to dissipate the slight increase in heat generated by the overclocking.

@@Skyvation643 It was an epiphany for me, and I hope you understand that my long post was not intended to be critical of your content, but rather to highlight something to everyone using MSFS, about a potential for greatly reducing stutters. I have come to believe that the fast majority of stuttering is simply caused by slow or not enough memory. If the GPU latency is much lower than the CPU latency and the Debug FPS counter is showing a lot of red multiple cycle blocks, then I would look at RAM vs Processor seed in Task Manager first.
@doltBmB
@doltBmB Ай бұрын
CL stands for Column-address-strobe Latency, not clock basically it's how long there is between a request is made and the data is stored or retrieved, in clock cycles so high frequency + low CL is faster, while low frequency + high CL is slower
@shenmisheshou7002
@shenmisheshou7002 Ай бұрын
@@doltBmB Thanks for the clarification The main point was that enabling XMP and selecting an XMP profile in BIOS made a staggering improvement in 1% lows and smoothness. I can fly into busy airports and even though the FPS can fall to 30, the game remains smooth. I watch dozens of videos on NVIDA settings and none of them really made any difference other than LOD sliders and traffic, but these have more to do with CPU workload and much of that deals with calling in things from RAM, and that is when I think I was getting the stutters. MSFS is running buttery smooth for me for the first time and it was not the graphics settings that did it, it was the XMP RAM. I also don't think going to 6400mhz RAM would buy my anything unless I upgraded to the 14900KF, but I am so happy with the result now that I doubt that the extra couple of FPS would matter.

I had same issue as you with 3rd panel, your PFD example, popout. I discovered the reason why it failed is because the second panel, the ND in your case, is blocking the PFD to be automatically picked, or 3rd panel, so the app can't see through the ND to pick the PFD...once I moved the ND, 2nd panel, out of the way by a Left/ Right start location the app was able to see the PFD and popped it out without failure.
