Tissier is highly overrated. He is a talker but yet he never talks about the fundamentals of aikido. Does he ever talk and explain AIKI or KOKYU or BLENDING? no. mostly it is talking about how to hold and what to do with your hands. "The axis of action" ? its another teacher making up his own concepts instead of transmitting the real recipe of Aikido.

3.17 Black belt cant even do shiho nage if uke doesnt coorporate. :-( who knows he might be well a second or third dan.

Or more precisely, black belt can't do shihonage on a 7th dan shihan.

I should study up more on your aikido. I think it is time to come out of my own practice and see what others are doing. I would consider all of these nage waza iriminage since the driving force is the neck throw. I think Yoshinkan considers them tenchin nage but presses more on the chest rather than going to the neck.

I asked this very thing of my instructor. He told me, it's all about intention. What is your intention. My intention is to grab, I said. Yes, he said, and my intention is to get out of your grab. If you simply let go, then I don't need to do anything. You have not gained anything and I have achieved my goal. But I'm not on the ground, I said. Yes, he said, but I too am also safe, I will not allow you to grab me. If your intention is to continue to try and grab and hold on to me, then you will end up on the ground.
@josephmalone253 Жыл бұрын
That's the point. To force uke to let go or be doomed by his own hand. This sensei is very respected.

Aikido is the ultimate Martial Art, which means that you must not START by it. It's just an addition to EVERYTHING ELSE. So yeah, if something goes wrong, you need to be able to punch the guy in the face. And also know to block a punch. Or take one.
@josephmalone253 Жыл бұрын
@@blop-a-blop9419 punching is intuitive as is blocking. There is no knowing how to take a punch. Maybe you could shift as your hit but that is it. Aikido is just a form if jujutsu that people I make crazy claims about for and against because they have some story to tell. Like you really gonna care what style you train in when most of the stuff is the same. Styles ruined karate!

When your opponent follows your movements everything is easy. This is what you must avoid in Aikido: your ego. No way here

The problem with modern Aikido is that most practitioners are only aware of circular motions that are big and obvious, but not the ones that are small and subtle -- like the techniques found in Aikijujitsu.

This is not axial force, it is radial force, the axial one goes from head to toe, the radial goes around the torso
@BrightonAikikai4 жыл бұрын
"Axial force" is not actually mentioned in the video. Also, while the teacher does not speak English as a first-language, he often says "around the axis" and "around the point", and we *think* most students understand what he's trying to say by this. Maybe not though! So thanks for your comment. We appreciate the clarification from an engineering point of view. :)

@Ebash125 жыл бұрын
I just noticed that it has been attached to the belt. Is it a good place from your experience?
@BrightonAikikai5 жыл бұрын
That depends. These days we usually attach it to the front of the Hakama where the belt knot is, and we use a black sock to cover the green light. :D The position Sensei Tissier is wearing it in this video it kind of gets in the way of rolling and Koshi nage throws. He didn’t do any of that during this seminar, so it was okay. :)

PFFFFFTTTTTTTTT...axis of action!!!?? Axis of pre-rehearsed pussies in their dresses making money off of people in the most candy ass martial art in the world! Do you idiotic fucking wimps actually believe that real fights - violent fights - start by the other guy gently holding out his arm for you to grab? And then, when you try your dumb ass akido shit, he goes flying through the air like these pre-rehearsed ass wipes?>
@BrightonAikikai5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment David. You raise excellent points, and we think most of them can be addressed just by reminding ourselves of the key components of practice in any martial art: honesty and respect. Kata means, basically, choreography, and of course nobody we know teaches it as anything else. Kata is what you see in most Aikido videos, including ours. We practice in a mixed-art dojo, and with multi-discipline practitioners ranging from Karate to Muay Thai to BJJ. Despite practicing different arts with different emphasis, we all find common ground in our shared passion for budo and it’s multitude of applications, from fighting to not-fighting. Hope you’ll be able to drop by our dojo one day and see this. We’re proud to be both accepting and accepted among those we consider fine examples of their own art and discipline.

Beta males and females who think you are learning a 'martial art'.....just like your chosen politics, you have believed all the smoke blown up your ass. When it comes to an actual fight, nobody slowly approaches you, and extends their arm for you to attempt a wrist lock or throw. I am a brazilian jiu jitsu practitioner. A blue belt in jiu jitsu would destroy your 'master' in Akido. Akido was a martial art form for people who are afraid of actual fighting and violence.....they feel safe in Akido that they will never have to actually fight anybody. And hopefully that is true, because if you do, you will have no idea how to defend yourself and get a beating.
