Why weren't the gold and silver medals awarded to the two female East German swimmers at the 1976 summer Olympics in Montreal recalled (when the weightlifting medal given to the same country's athlete was) and the rightful champion, Nancy Garapick of Canada, vaulted to her legitimate place as the gold medalist. I wrote to the Canadian Olympic Committee about this scandal and didn't even receive a reply. As recently as this year's Paris Olympics, a Canadian commentator, listing the five Canadian women and their rank who had received medals throughout history, named Garapick as having won a bronze medal. Why hasn't this injustice been corrected?

The entry by Ungureanu on the uneven bars was amazing I thought & so very, very good altogether performance on it too I thought. The floor exercises by shorter blonde & Nadia were very good & fun & cute.

Back when the top teams were "rewarded" with the two crappiest lanes (lane1 and lane8). Sucks to watch a fight to the end with lane1 and lane8. Thank goodness we will never see this again in our lifetime.

in the early decades that Women's Gymnasts was in the Olympics most of the competitors were older women not teenage girls who are naturally more flexible because their growth plates haven't closed yet for ex Shannon Miller was 15 years old at her first Olympics in 1992 at Barcelona 19 at her 2nd Olympics in 1996 in Atlanta and 23 when she withdrew from the trials for the Sydney Olympics in June 2000 mind you women usually do easier tricks than the men do as they are shorter and lighter and don't have the upper body strength to do the Still rings or horizontal bar and guys usually don't do beam because its easier for them to fall off and get seriously hurt due to being taller and significantly heavier ex Bart Conner was 5 Ft 6 in and 140 LBs when he was competing while at the end of her career Shannon miller was 1.524 m or 5 Ft tall and 92 LBs though there are some women who do some difficult tricks now a days

She's certainly did the triple toe and salchow. She may have had a triple loop, but I don't think she used it in competition regularly.

@arf2847 Both Tina Noyes and Janet Lynn attempted triples (toe loop and salchow) at the 1968 Olympics. I'm not sure if they were the first, but they were certainly among the earliest American women to do so.

Nadia's bars was mind-blowing! 3 release moves in the front part (one original), multiple handstand positions and an original dismount. Not to mention the flow, form and amplitude! Nobody was close to her in this competition.

Look at all the fun we of the USA missed out on because of that flaming peanut-headed President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, and his STUPID boycott of these Games of the 22nd Olympiad!!! And yes. I AM an American and I still feel that Team USA was cheated out of being in these great Olympics no thanks to Jimmy Carter. He STUNK as a head of state!

The scoring was very unfair and very subjective. They had their favorites, usually Russian. And they got the best marks. Not even the best Russians, the favorites. Forget any Americans getting good marks. They could have a great and difficult routine. Do it perfectly and get a low score. For years.

This era was the best there ever will be. They had to work hard without all the soft floors they have now and no hand grips and it was harder back then. They all worked really hard for this and Nadia will always be the Queen of Gymnastics❤❤❤❤
