Fun! I was a Shansi rep in Thailand in 1978-81. Parlayed that into seven years of community and education capacity-building there, and a half-decade later, a Thai Fulbright for my doctoral ethnographic research. Shansi changed the arc of my life.

Very nice video, especially the music/dance segment at the end. I was a Shansi rep in Taiwan '71-73 and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

did you do a video on japanese graffiti?
@flip1sba6 жыл бұрын
Japan is really not much of a place for graffiti and the scene there is less than that of South East Asia. Tokyo may have some legal murals and illegal throw-ups along highways and railway tracks. The long graffiti wall in Sakuragi Cho is gone! Osaka has a better scene as well as Hiroshima.

I find it interesting how some of these Japanese hip-hop heads know groups such as People Under The Stairs. This is an underground group and their albums aren't found in most mainstream record shops. In fact, many hip-hop heads in The US do not know this group especially those in the mainstream. The guy who said he listens to such group must not be fluent in English and if he does, only a little or basic. P.U.T.S' lyrics are intellectual and its hard to understand for those who are not fluent in English. Most likely, he appreciates their music through the beat and flow.

Hi, really interested in the research you compiled. I'm planning to go to Japan in September and would love to connect with you on the places you went for a piece I'm working on. Please let me know how I can get in touch with you.

+CaapriceTube Nevertheless he knows who they are and their music. Many Japanese hip-hop heads do know the culture. They prefer Swollen Members over Lil' Wayne!
