I was so hoping to catch a glimpse of what Richie is using for a wah pedal but it was always just out of frame or behind someone’s head. Anybody know what he’s been using most recently?

@@cpe1704tks.The string section is definitely live, but there is also a guy on string synth to accentuate the arrangements. I know in the very least that the violin is 100% live

The way Ed delivers on the guitar just shares some kind of conviction that the original doesn't do. That is just my opinion.

Dreadful vocal. Quivery voice sounds like he's singing to his clothesline from his back porch on a windy day. The guitar power chords do succeed in obliterating the subtlety of the lyrics however. That qualifies as a victory for American bands every time they attempt to reimagine great British songs. Most countries have electricity and musicians. No need to be abusive about it. 7

Typical English musical snobbery. Gfy
@Jesso_212 жыл бұрын
Haha I would have taken you fairly seriously & respected the whole original/80's sounds v this 90's version & your opinion as I like both versions for what they are. That was until the whole British v American BS 🤣 BTW NOT American or British, Aussie with closer links to UK but this just comes off as "we're better than you", throw in some musical terms to make it seem otherwise but the way I see it? Live obviously rated the original version & perhaps it was an influence to their style or just brought back good memories of life & hearing good music. Before the days of "oh its a personal opinion different to mine" or taking things personally & feeling attacked.

Both versions for different reasons. This is a 90s rock rendition of an 80s song. I heard the original first but this is great in its own right: They covered this song at a random moment in a concert. That's awesome!

loved when they covered this song during the Secret Samadhi tour in 1997. Glad they made it available on a CD single then as well.

I love the 80's version for being a great 80's song & respect it was a huge song in the 80's plus 82 was a good year 😉 For me though, I still remember hearing this version on the radio for the 1st time which was weird for back then as radio stations didnt usually play live versions of songs unless they were released & being a cover was even stranger. Plus it's not really well known unless you're Live fan which I am. I was in the right place at the right time, thank you MMM Brisbane 🤘
